Essential Shopping Ethics

Hello everyone!
A very wonderful day and week to this wonderful family. I trust we are all doing well? It is very important that we maintain our health and vibrancy despite the fluctuating steem price 🤣🤣 . Our health should not be fluctuating ooo.

However, as we all know, food is one of the major pillars or building block of good health. Nevertheless, food itself can contribute to ill health. How? Let is find out.

HOW FOOD CAN CONTRIBUTE TO ILL HEALTH

Firstly, what is ill health?
Ill health or disease as we all know is a condition whereby the normal mental and physical function of the body is disrupted.

What causes disease or ill health?
There are many causes of disease. Some causes of mental ill health are substance or drug abuse, trauma and other stressful life events. However , genetics is also a factor.

Causes of physical disease include pathogens from food, hands, the air and literally every single object around us 😏.
Did I say pathogens? Yes pathogens is a general name for all disease causing bacteria, germs and even viruses .

How do pathogens get into food?

In the first picture, we see a very common way in which germs and bacteria get into the food we eat. As you may see, there are flies perched on the meat . These flies carry many microbes and pathogens on their feet and feeding parts. As they perch on the food, they transfer these pathogens to the food. This is very common in meat , fish , fresh tomatoes and other fresh products in our local markets.

When we grind foods in a very dirty market like the one in the second picture, there is a chance of germs getting into the food. This is food poisoning.

WAYS IN WHICH WE CAN PREVENT FOOD POISONING

  • When you are buying meat and fish in a local market buy those which still look fresh and do not have flies on them.
  • Before cooking your fish or meat, do well to leave them in very hot water for a while. This helps to kill germs .
  • Try not to buy fresh foods or any food at all in a dirty market.
  • If you are eating at a restaurant, be sure you know the kind of condition in which the food was cooked.
  • Make your food yourself as much as possible.
  • Wear an apron and a cap when cooking to prevent hair or sweat dropping into the food.
  • Wear a face mask when cooking if you know you have a runny nose or are likely to sneeze.

These are a few suggestions that can prevent food poisoning. Do more research and see what applies to you.
