[edited with Galaxy-A15] - Finished Mat

Solving a Mid-term Project

It's another Mid-term Project, and this time, it's a craft, weaving a mat with cardboard. I can assure you it looked easy and I had underestimated it till8 it was time to go to work.
Teaching young kids this skill at an early age prepares these young ones for productivity and creativity. Taking this task home and watching as parents tackle this mid-term project is a part of their training, which is why it is sometimes believed that talent runs in the family, smart parents-smart kids.

Understanding the task

This task is straightforward, using a two coloured cardboard cut into strips and matted over each other till it creates a pattern of beautifully crisscrossing lines. The goal is to weave a mat using cardboard, and I am planning to add a little.

Needed Materials for the task

MaterialFunction
Pink Cardboardmain body
Yellow Cardboard decoration
Some Glue bunding

Needed tools

A pair of scissorsfor cutting
Ruler for marking
Pencilsmarkings

Procedure

To get straight strips of cardboard, I used a ruler and marked the cardboard with a pencil, then used a pair of scissors to cut the cardboard into long strips of approximately the same size.
Having uniform-sized strips gives the finished product an elegant touch, a crisp finish.

Cutting the second cardboard into small strips made it difficult to manage. So I devise a means to keep them together.

Now I have the yellow strips and the pink strips ready to get interwoven. For aesthetics and style, I cut the pink cardboard at an angle.

This created a pattern that looked like rhombus shapes, unlike the usual square pattern. I loved it basically because it looked different.

Here is a video showing the cardboard mat-making process.

At the end of the day, the mat was successfully completed and it's now on the way to school.
