Covering the Governor's All Secondary Schools Unity Games

Sports or games go beyond fun. While it enhances physical fitness, developing skills on games or sports, could take ones beyond the shores of the country. In this writing competition, I would be highlighting the importance of having regular sporting or games activities in our secondary schools.

The government is organizing games across all secondary schools in the state. There are 17 local government in the state and all the secondary schools from there, are expected to participate in the games organized by the state government. For this reason, some schools that have young and physically fit pupils, are engaging their students into various training.

students participating in Javelin

This is one the games that the students are participating in. The Javelin is a track and field event. The students are competing to know who would emerge as the farthest thrower in the competition. This is to say that the aim of this game is to throw the Javelin as far distance as possible. 7 Schools are participating in this game.

The Javelin is designed like a spear either with metal or wood. It has a metal tip. Throwing Javelin involves the following:

  • Training/Technique:
There mapped out training that one has to undergo to enhance skills and techniques for the Javelin games. The students have gone through the training and have come up to show off their throwing skills in this competition.
  • The Aerodynamics:
This is the Javelin's motion in the air. While it travels to the distance, its display its design and shape in the air.

The Release:
This is the actual time that the Javelin has to go off or released from the hand. Improper timing of release may result to displacing or misdirecting the Javelin.

  • The Run Up:
This is the speed at which the student could run to throw the Javelin.

  • Landing:
This is the point at which the Javelin hits the ground. The Javelin must land by hitting its “tip" first on the marked ground on the field.

  • Scoring/Winner:
As the athletes try to throw the Javelin into the selected or marked portion in the field a winner is expected to emerge. A winner emerges when an athlete throw, is declared the farthest among other athletes.

This Javelin is AIMED at scouting for Young athletes who would be trained further to represent the state in other Javelin games across the country. It would equip the with the skills to compete among their global equals..
