Tied to a Tree, Bound by Fate | Arthur Morgan's Untold Adventures, Part 13

While we were hiding out in Colter, we raided one of O’Driscolls camps. Colm O’Driscoll (their leader) got away, but we caught one of his men alive. His name was Kieran Duffy. We tied him to a tree and kept him barely alive. He hadn’t told us anything useful about Colm yet. Maybe we hadn’t pushed him hard enough.

That changed today. Dutch lost his patience and figured it was time to deal with Kieran properly. I walked up to him. The poor guy looked like he was about to fall apart. I told him to start talking about the O’Driscolls, but all I got was the same old story. He claimed he didn’t know anything.

Dutch and Bill showed up. Dutch thought maybe Bill could get something out of him. Bill leaned on him a bit, but Kieran stuck to his story. Said he barely knew them, just rode with them for a while.

That’s when Dutch told Bill to hurt him. Bill lit up and ran off to grab the tools. Kieran panicked, asking what was going on. Dutch stayed calm and told him not to worry. Said they were just his balls, and they had only ever caused him trouble. Bill came back with red-hot tongs, clanking them like it was a joke.

And that did the job. Kieran finally cracked. He said Colm was holed up at Six Point Cabin. Claimed he hated Colm more than he hated us. We didn’t care either way. We had what we needed.

I cut him loose and told him he was taking us there. I warned him not to try anything stupid. He swore he wasn’t one of them anymore.

I called for John and Bill. Told John to ride with Kieran and shoot him if he tried anything. John didn’t even blink. We saddled up and headed for the hills behind Valentine.

We rode out with Kieran on John’s horse. I told him we were going to see his old friends. He kept trying to defend himself, saying he wasn’t one of them anymore. John wasn’t buying it. Said he looked and smelled like one. I let them argue.

Bill rode up and said Dutch had stashed throwing knives in my saddlebag. I told him next time to just hand them to me instead of sneaking them in like he was doing me a favor.

As we neared Colm’s camp, Kieran started running his mouth again. Said we weren’t much different from the O’Driscolls. We shut him up quick.

Eventually, we reached the spot. We dismounted and crept up the hill. Kieran led the way, still claiming he wasn’t going to betray us. We crouched and looked down at the clearing. The cabin was there, tucked in the trees. Kieran whispered there’d be armed men, likely drunk, and that Colm was probably inside.

Before we could move, Bill pointed out three O’Driscolls walking by. John grabbed Kieran, clamped a hand over his mouth, and put a gun to his head. The gang members below were bickering about dinner. One wandered off to pee.

Bill leaned in and asked what we should do about the one by the tree.

I said I’d handle it then I threw a knife and took him down.

Bill and I took out the other two in sync.

We then moved forward quietly, but got spotted and they were alerted. That kicked off a full-blown gunfight.

We handled it. The rest ran for their lives.

I headed for the cabin, ready to finish the job. As I reached the door, it slammed open and knocked me flat. I looked up to see an O’Driscoll pointing a gun at me with a wicked grin.

Then came the gunshot.

The O’Driscoll dropped. Kieran had shot him. The same guy we had tied to a tree a day ago had just saved my life.

I stormed into the cabin, only to find it empty.

Furious, I walked back out. Colm wasn’t there. It was a trap, and I figured Kieran had led us into it. I drew my gun and aimed it at his head.

He froze.

I accused him. He swore Colm had been there. Said he had saved my life, not sold us out. Bill shrugged and said the kid had a point. As much as I hated to admit it, he was right.

I lowered my gun.

Told Kieran to get lost. Said I wouldn’t kill him, but he better disappear. He looked hurt. Said kicking him out was the same as killing him. Colm would come for him now. Then, bold as anything, he said he was one of us.

I almost laughed. But instead, I told him fine. He could stay. But he better not give me a reason to regret it.

We started heading back. Just when I thought it was over, Kieran mentioned there was usually money hidden in the chimney. Before I could respond, he ran back to the cabin.

I told them to ride back to camp. I’d check it out myself.

Sure enough, tucked inside the chimney was a fat stack of bills. Six hundred dollars. After all, Kierran wasn’t completely useless.

(to be continued...)

Disclaimer

Arthur Morgan and the world of Red Dead Redemption 2 might be fictional creations by Rockstar Games, but my love for this game? 100% real. This is a new kind of adventure I wanted to bring to Steemit. I’m narrating the story of RDR2 from the perspective of its protagonist, Arthur Morgan, offering a fresh and immersive take on his journey. Rather than directly copying the game’s dialogues, I’m weaving Arthur’s emotions and experiences into a creative and fictional retelling. You can also experience this story in a cinematic way. I play the game, record my gameplay, edit the footage in the best possible way, and upload it to my YouTube channel. This way, after reading each story episode, you can watch it unfold like a movie.

¡Holaaa amigo!🤗

De alguna u otra forma, el árbol le transmitió la fuerza que necesita y, allí es donde comprendemos que la naturaleza, siempre es sabia.

Excelente relato amigo... Un fuerte abrazo💚
