"One Picture And One Story Week #89"

It was May 13th, and we stayed at the Nature Park Restaurant in Chundikulam, a beautiful place in the North.

Everyone was inside the rooms, talking and resting. But I felt lonely, so I stepped outside in hopes of getting some fresh air. I sat down on the bench in the garden, looking at the sun, which was slowly going down. The cool breeze made my body shiver. But I didn't want to stand out in the place. I looked at the soft orange sky, with pink clouds like cotton. The tall Palmyra trees stood quietly in front of me; the world was calm and peaceful, except for the soft wind that touched my face. There was only me and the sunset. I loved that silence, and I wanted that silence. My heart slowly went back to my past.

I remembered him, my fiancé, David, the one whom I loved deeply. The days we spent watching sunsets just like this together. We talked about our dreams, our lives, and our future. He would hold my hand gently and say, "I never forget you. No matter what happens, I will come back to you."

But he still didn't do so. I am only waiting for him.

All my friends got married and had children, and even after the time passed, only I was waiting for him. I don't want to marry another; I believe his words. I still believe.

I'm alone at Chundikulam today, looking at the sunset that we used to enjoy together. My heart felt full of memories but empty of answers.

Where will he be now? Is he watching the same sun that I am watching? Is he thinking of me as I think of him?

I am not sure.

But in that quiet moment, I felt something. A small hope, like a soft breeze. As a flower blooming after rain, my lonely heart got a little freshness.

If he comes back, really, one day? And ask me, "Will you marry me?"

That thought brought me a smile. Oh! It might be only a dream. My eyes filled with tears, but not of pain, but with hope.

Still, I am waiting for him, carrying his love in my heart like a light that never fades.

The sun slowly went down, hiding behind the trees, making the area pitch dark, but I didn't feel afraid. The silence that speaks more than words, which I loved at that moment. The time passed, and I heard the laugh from the room side.

I stood up from the bench and walked slowly on the sandy path. Behind me, still, the sky held the last bit of orange. Yet, life was waiting in front of me.

While walking, the only question I heard was, "Will he come back?"

I don't know, but I am waiting, because some loves are not forgotten. My heart still keeps dreaming. Someday, will that dream come true?

I looked back at the sun for the last time that evening. It had gone, as had my David.

You have told a very beautiful story of love and waiting and it was really quite an interesting story. Your love is one of those true loves that never fades away, that live forever in a person's heart even after separation. And the evening that is told with the setting sun is a very beautiful evening, very peaceful and calming. Where there is no turmoil or worries of the world, no fights or quarrels, there a person sits and enjoys this view in silence and does not get worried by thinking about his thoughts, but rather feels calm and satisfied. So you have written a very beautiful story with a very beautiful evening scene. May God always bless you.🥰🫂
