My Old VS New Pictures

Time is something none of us has the ability to stop, no matter how hard we try, we may only slow it down, and as time goes on, we grow older as our ages and experiences count, to this effect, it is sometimes good for us to look back and see how far we've come and this is one of such moments for me.
Share at least two or three old and new/recent photos of yourself |

The images above were taken in the year 2016 when I was still in the second year of university life, whereas the once below were taken this year, that is exactly 9 years apart.

You can see for yourself that without being told, you will think these images were sort of taken the same year. My physical appearance gets even my friends surprised as some argued if I don't grow old, while some believe I have elixir of youth I am hoarding.

Write a short story or explanation about the changes you notice in yourself physically, emotionally, or in lifestyle |

It's funny how time flies. Looking back, I can hardly believe how much nothing has changed about me physically but then so much has changed emotionally. Just a few years ago, I was a completely different person emotionally, I remember being so carefree, always up for an adventure, my energy boundless, and I had this youthful exuberance that made me feel like I could conquer the world as I was yet to be wrecked emotionally and not encountering disappointments.
Physically, other than my youthful glow nothing much really changed after 9 years apart. But, honestly, I don't mind because for me, it's like I have been given the elixir of youthful life for free by nature. I look so unchanged with all the experiences I have had, the challenges I have overcome, and the lessons I have learned along the way, I still very much look exactly like I was the years back.
On the emotional side, I believe I have definitely matured a lot compared to years back. Before now, I used to be so impulsive, letting my emotions get the better of me, but now, I am rather more thoughtful and I have learned to manage my feelings with a greater sense of control. Most importantly, I have also learned to appreciate the simple things in life, things I took for granted back then.
9 years apart, my lifestyle has definitely changed too because I used to be all about going out and having a good time, but now, I find myself enjoying quiet times at home, reading a good book, or spending time with loved ones. It's not that I don't enjoy going out anymore, but I've learned to find fulfillment in different ways.
Looking back, I'm grateful for all the changes I have experienced and they have made me the person I am today, and I wouldn't trade it for anything.
Which version of yourself do you like more old or new? And why? |

It is a funny thing, thinking about the different versions of myself. The young, carefree one, and the more mature, grounded one. Looking at the different photographs of myself, at different points in time.
Well, I cherish the memories of the old me, the one who was full of boundless energy and an unyielding optimism. I must say, I kind of miss that more youthful spark, the way I could dive headfirst into anything without a second thought. But, to be honest with you, I wouldn't want to go back.
The me now, maybe a little more weathered and more cautious due to the experiences and moments I have had in life, and I am also a lot more content now. I have learned from my mistakes and gained a deeper understanding of myself and the world around me. I am more aware of my strengths and weaknesses, and I have developed a greater sense of self-compassion.
Don't get me wrong, I am not saying the old me was bad or that the new me is perfect just yet, hell no!. But rather that I have only grown to appreciate the wisdom and experience that comes with age because I have learned that life isn't always about chasing thrills and excitement. Sometimes, it is about finding peace and contentment in simple things.
Therefore, while I have fond memories of the old me, I am happy with who I am today. The me right now is a work of all the experiences I have had, the lessons I have learned, and the person I have become and that's something to be proud of.
Everyone is growing old through the aging process, so how can we control that process and live longer? |
---|
It is true that we all age with time even though sometimes not physically like me, who has an elixir of youthful exuberance, lol 😂, but then we obviously can't completely stop it as aging goes beyond just the physical body alone as it concerns psychological and emotional aspects as well. But then, to maintain a good aging process, we can think of it like a car that needs regular maintenance to run smoothly. To achieve that, we may need certain practices such as;
Having Healthy Habits:
Eating well with meals that contain lots of fruits and vegetables, exercising regularly, and getting enough sleep.
Having a Great Mindset:
Remember I said aging also affects the psychological aspect. So what's the best medicine for our psychology? Exactly, being happy. When we can be happy and manage our stress effectively, it helps things run smoothly.
Going for Regular Medical Check-ups:
We don't have to be sick before we know the road to the hospital, therefore going for regular checkups will help us catch any problem early.
However, just as we can't stop the clock, we can't stop ourselves from aging, but then, we can make sure our bodies are running in top shape for as long as possible.
I want to take this opportunity to invite @triple-a, @mar-tha and @okokon.
