Contest Alert ⚠️ 1 Picture 1 Story Week #91
"The Morning I Made It All Myself"
My surrounding seemed different this morning. The rays of sunlight that appeared through the window seemed very inviting. I decided I didn’t want to eat a meal that was unenthusiastic or done too fast. Today I was going to buy something I like. Rather, by getting my hands dirty and making it my way instead of getting something delivered or at a drive-through. Because of that decision, you see in the photos soft, warm fried potatoes and velvety custard on the plate.
I didn’t have any instructions or a recipe, I was just confident enough and interested. At the first stage, I peeled the potatoes, sliced them, put on the proper amount of salt, pepper, and added a little spice. The potatoes turned golden and smelled great while they cooked in the pan.
After that, the custard was added. As I whisked, I kept it slow until it became silky and had the perfect sweet and creamy mix. It took me back to my young days when there were calm mornings and someone else cooked my meal. Even better this time, I baked something for myself instead of others.
In the image, the crisp spiced potatoes are shown on a plate together with a big container of thick yellow custard. Even though cooking looks simple at times, there is a lot of effort, care, and happiness involved in making a meal. This shot is taken from close by, and the potatoes’ golden crust makes you imagine how crunchy and delicious they are.
Having that breakfast went beyond the need to be satiated. I decided to enjoy a calming moment alone and develop a pleasant start to my day. There didn’t have to be any special event. By myself, I was able to enjoy everything. One simple meal made with just the things I need and a goal to start my day right.
