Singing is a talent and a rare one. I have this talent of singing with Treble voice as a guy. For this contest, I'll be singing a song by a Nigerian artiste known as Teni. She's a female artiste with a rare tenor voice. Sometimes I wonder, Teni singing Tenor.. I'm not a singer. I just love singing as a hobby. I had this interest right from when I was in secondary school. I would singlehandedly start singing during extra curricular activities with my friends.

Students from other classes would come to hear me sing because they loved my voice. Some senior students would even tell me to come to their class and sing with them. That's when I started developing a liking for music. The video below shows me sing Uyo Meyo by Teni.

The words Uyo Meyo are Yoruba words, a language that's us common for use by Nigerian artistes in songs they sing. This Uyo Meyo is a popular Yoruba song most people sing as auditions and in competitions because of the pitch and tone the song has. So I'll be displaying the talent of singing treble with this song instead of Tenor.

This is her music video and a lot of people have covered the song. This is my own cover of the song.

At first I was skeptical about singing the song because of the pitch involved. I just had to maintain composure so my breath can take me throughout the song from beginning to the end. Singing her song with instrumental is what helped me get it right. It's just that singing with instrumentals amplifies the voice other than just singing Acapella.

I used a music box to aid the audio recording of the song. The starting of the song got me real quick and I tried to use riffs instead of following the artiste tone since it's a cover and I must be creative. This is the lyrics of the song.

The bridge was purely in Yoruba language. I nailed that part before singing the first stanza. From the first stanza, you'll notice my change of tone in Close your eyes and come and see, don't you worry about a thing. I riffed these parts to amplify my voice instead of making it plain. It wasn't easy to riff in a high pitch but I did it with my low treble voice.

Moving on was the chorus, I also changed my voice to bring about a balance. What's the meaning of this song as most people may not understand Yoruba, a Nigerian language.? I'll explain what the artiste was trying to insinuate when she wrote this song.

Uyo Meyo is an Ondo dialect song from the Yoruba culture which emphasizes the need to celebrate other people's joy and success and that your own celebration would follow. She also encourage others from the first stanza to work hard and push the button. Everyone is a winner if only you believe you are. You need to do what winners do and that's when not giving up comes in.

Most of us do celebrate people's wins and success here on steemit and we see people grow to attain undeniable heights. We can also win if we do what they do. Their grace may not be your grace. You just have to do something that would make you stand out as different among many and you'll get to be celebrated the way others are.

Her music video is a testament to this fact. These are my BTS trying to sing the song. Most times I go off key and try again till I get it right. This is my talent in Treble. I do sing alto and tenor too but on rare occasions. I just love singing treble as I get comfortability in doing so. What do you like about songs you listen to? Is it the lyrics, the beats and tone or the artiste? Most times when listening to songs, you need to understand the lyrics of the song and what it means.

These are some of the songs I made on the platform. It's not easy to express yourself in song but when you do, you'll definitely love it.
