Refixing some Plumbing work at home

in Steem For Lifestyle13 days ago (edited)

Most times when our taps leaks or do not have that jet flow of water, it can be very annoying and disappointing.
It will delay us if we were to rush to meet up with time and appointments.
But if we do not have time to fix it, how then do we expect it to work?

We have been living in this apartment for 5 years now without any major repairs apart from electrical fittings changes and repainting that we have done.
It was a time to repair our kitchen basin tap and change the basin hose for normal flow.
I purchased 2 basin hose at a plumbing shop which cost 10 Steem each ( i.e 20 Steem). These were to take care of bathroom and kitchen basin.

I also bought 2 rolls of plumbing tapes which cost 2 Steem each (i.e 4 Steem for the two)

When I got home, the work was set to begin.
I detached the old kitchen basin hose from under the basin and the other end from the wall pipe inlet.

The new one was ready to be fixed thus;

  • Cleaning the surface
  • Attaching new plumbing tape
  • Fixing the new hose
  • Testing for potential leakage by passing water through it.

  • No leakage was found.
Next was the detaching of the kitchen tap and washing it to de-silt it for proper rushing of water.

But before that could be done, the control inlet tap under the basin needed to be closed.
I carefully detached each component and washed it with warm water which I have added detergent and few drops of disinfectant (Dettol).

Rinsing was done with clean water.
Now refixing of the tap was carefully done with the upper parts first and followed with the part under it(tight cornered work needs extra care so as not to spoil the threads).

After fixing, I tested the flow and there was no problem.

For a better life, we need to create time to fix some things that seems unimportant but necessary.
There will be more update on other fixing at home to lead a better life.
