in Steem For Ladies2 months ago

Hey beautiful steemians ladies in the house. It my humble self @pandoradiary here to join in this creative contest organize by @tammanna in recognition to the Ramadan fasting season. Before I share my creative art journey with you, I will like to enlighten us on what is Ramadan and it significance to the Muslim body. Ramadan is a significant month for the Muslims worldwide. It is the ninth month of their Islamic calendar, it is signified as their holiest month. During this month they fast for 30 days, from sunset (5am) to sundown (7pm) everyday, they do not eat, drink or get involved in anything deem unholy, awaiting the appearance of the sun, when it does appear they stop the fasting, and have their celebration Ed al-fitr. Now let’s dive into my art work.

My art says it all, capturing the essence of Ramadan. The man in the drawing is on his knees praying, the birds on the sky following through with the practices daily. The above is a glowing crescent moon, which represent a new down, a renewal of faith , and the Mosque their place of prayer on the last day. Creating this art work wasn’t easy, because I was at work when I saw the contest notification. It took me close to 2 hours to put this idea together. I was a bit limited in the material need, at this point I had to improvise, making use of white paper, a black pen, pencil and black marker for painting. As requested below is the steps to this heart-warming master piece.

STEP 1: SKETCHING

File_000.jpeg

My first step was to use a pencil to sketch my idea, enabling me to erase whatever I didn’t need. I started by sketching the man, which gave me a bit of a difficulty looking at his angled position, next I sketched the mosque, moved to the moon, the star and finally to the birds, I can bet you that I had to erase severally, till I felt I it looks perfect.

STEP 2: INKING

In this next step, I made use of my black pen, using it to retrace my sketches and giving a more defining look, you can see it visibility.

STEP 3: SHADING

Finally, I use the black marker to paint my drawing, remember I mentioned that I was at the office and had to improvise.

STEP 4: THE REVEAL
