Today I hope to share with you information about a traditional puppet museum.
There is a puppet museum near the Balapitiya Hospital where I work. I had been wanting to visit the museum for a while. I decided to go see it with a friend. After the morning shift at the hospital ended at 1 pm, we both went to see the puppets. Since the puppet museum is very close to the hospital, we were able to get there in a short time of about 5 minutes.
puppet are found in many countries of the world.but in the Sri Lanka there is a special place for string puppet.here you can see the puppet that are fully prepared from head to toe.this art is found in Ambalangoda and Balapitiya areas in the southern province of Sri Lanka. This is an art that is handed down from generation to generation. The puppeteer's skill is to give life to the puppets by moving the puppets' hands, feet, head etc. with string.currently there are 6or 7 puppet show group in sri Lanka. they will go to all parts of Sri Lanka for shows.
An entry fee of 200 rupees will be charged. It is open every day from 9 am to 6 pm except for the few holidays.I have come to know that many foreign tourists come to see this.school children's and other local tourists also come here.we received a leaflet with details.

The exhibition hall was decorated with puppets depicting scenes from plays. There was an opportunity to learn about puppetry, learn about puppet making, and watch live puppet shows on the puppet stage. Puppet-related creations available for purchase were displayed in a separate booth.

kaduru wood is often used to make puppets.the puppets are finished by adding the body the body parts made separately.Nowadays there are very few puppeteer's.the reason is that they turn to other jobs.

In addition, we could see many other puppets there. I regret that I was unable to bring their true beauty to you because the photos on my phone are not clear.
We didn't get a chance to see the live puppet show that day. My two babies were waiting for me at home, so I didn't have much time to visit the museum. After leaving the museum, we quickly boarded a bus to head home.

THANKS FOR READING MY POST 🌹🌹
I cannot even rememmber the last time I walked into a museum of any kind - but it was definitely many, many years ago lol. I do not think we even have a puppet museum here in South Africa... or at least not that I am aware of :) but it is definitely a fascinating creative hobby... though some of the faces are a little bit freaky aren't they :D
Yes, Miss, the puppets are very charming and fun. I want to get one for my baby. Some of the faces are different. They are the faces of devils and monsters from plays. They are imaginary.
