The Story

Last Sunday I was in Binjai City with my wife and children to visit their grandmother's house. It has become our habit when we are in Binjai to take the time to go to Binjai Super Mall (BSM). This time our goal was not to take the kids for a walk nor to enjoy pizza or ice cream, our mission was to go to Matahari department store in the mall. We (just me and my wife) wanted to hunt for new shoes and sandals, while we left the kids at their grandmother's house, so we were free to be creative.

The trip from grandmother's (my wife’s mom) house to BSM only took about seven minutes, but it turned out that because of the crowds of people visiting BSM on that day, I had difficulty finding a parking space for the car, so I had to circle around the parking area first to wait for a car to come out. After more than ten minutes of monitoring, I finally found a parking space and then we walked into the mall with excitement towards Matahari department store.

We walked into the huge department store, and it was immediately busy. We started walking down the shelves full of shoes of various models. I was actually looking for a pair of shoes that would be suitable for everyday wear and also for the office. I tried on a few pairs of shoes, until finally after maybe twenty minutes of circling around, I found a black shoe that looked relaxed, with a minimalist design and a modern touch. I tried them on, and found that they fit my feet perfectly. Without hesitation, I decide to buy them. The first victory in my shopping adventure!

As our journey continued, my wife still needed to find sandals that were simple and comfortable for her. We stepped into the women's sandals section located in a quieter area of the department store. My wife started trying on some sandals that caught her eye. As she continued to try them on, my wife noticed a promotional sign for a sandal product that said “Buy 2 Get 1”.

My wife then said to me, “This is just right dear, let's get some for your mom and my mom”. “Good idea, continue dear” I responded with enthusiasm. We immediately did a video call with my mom first to show which sandal model she liked, my mom chose brown sandals. Then we did a video call with my wife's mom to offer several variants of sandals, it turned out that she liked the beige sandals.

It was the last mission to find footwear for my wife, since she felt confused about which one she wanted to take, when there was one she liked it turned out that there was no other size or color choice that suited her taste. Later she asked for help from a department store employee to help find, the employee kindly offered a shoes that fit the criteria my wife wanted, and my wife chose the black color to maintain compactness with me.
