Located in the Gayo highlands of Central Aceh, Takengon Freshwater Lake is one of Aceh's most stunning natural destinations. Although often called "little," it is actually a large lake surrounded by lush green mountains. Around the lake, there are many interesting tourist spots, such as the Pukul Pengalaman pier, Ujung Nunang, and the Pantan Terong tourist area, which offers views of the freshwater sea from above. Visitors can also enjoy various activities, such as motorboat rides, fishing, swimming by the lake, or simply relaxing while sipping the famous Gayo coffee and roasted corn sold along the tourist area.
