We woke up early today, way earlier than usual. The sun hadn’t even fully risen yet, and everything around us was super quiet. It felt like we were the only ones awake, like we got a head start before the kids opened their eyes.

We had to go to the car clinic for our regular oil change. It’s supposed to be done every six months, so we scheduled it first thing in the morning since we had other plans later. When we got there, the mechanic checked the car right away. Aside from the oil change, there was an oil spill, too. Turns out a part needs replacing ASAP, or it might turn into a bigger issue. So, even if it meant spending again, we just said go ahead. Better safe than sorry.

It actually took longer than we expected, almost more than three hours. But we were still thankful they caught the leak before it caused real trouble.

As soon as it was done, we headed home because we had another appointment lined up. This time, it wasn’t about the car… it was for our youngest kid. He was scheduled for circumcision. He’d been a bit anxious the night before. His older brother had been teasing him nonstop. Still, we got kind of excited. We were curious how he’d react. Would he cry? Or keep it cool?

We picked up Math so we could take him to the medical clinic. We tried to prepare him mentally. Told him it might sting a little, but if he got too nervous or wanted to stop, he could say so. But he seemed sure about it. He wanted to go through with it, like his classmates already had.

After waiting for about an hour, the doctor came and told us to get ready. They quickly took his temperature and weight, then it was time to get started. He asked if we could stay with him during the procedure, and they allowed it.

The doctor asked him if he was nervous. He just said, “Mmm... a little.” They got the anesthesia ready. The doctor was really smooth—kept chatting with him, asking about school and his friends, distracting him so well that before we knew it, it was done.

Honestly, I didn’t expect him to be that brave. He didn’t cry, didn’t panic, just followed everything the doctor said. It was his dad who looked more nervous! He kept thinking about the worst-case scenarios we hear on the news, where kids back out at the last minute, even when they’re already on the table.

But nope, not our boy. After it was over, instead of sulking or lying down dramatically, he asked if we could go to Jollibee. He said he deserved a reward. And of course, we said yes. He told his kuya he wanted fried chicken, so off we went to the drive-thru.

Back home, his older brother kept asking what happened in the room, since only my husband and I were allowed inside. Math started bragging right away. Said it didn’t hurt at all, unlike what kuya had been warning him about. He was clearly proud.

His older brother laughed and said, “You’re not a baby anymore, you’re a young man now.” We were just there listening, smiling. It was sweet, and honestly kind of funny too. His brother even sounded like he was giving a pep talk.

We let Math rest after, just like the doctor said. Recovery will take about two weeks, so we’re keeping everything clean and giving him all his meds on time. He’s still feeling proud that he didn’t cry during the procedure. At one point, he even asked if his cousin had already been circumcised. I think he wanted to be the first, so he could say, “I did it already!”

I just said, “Maybe he’ll go for it next year.” And when it’s his turn, you make sure to encourage him. Tell your cousin, " I’m already done. You can definitely handle it too... just like you.”

I wrapped him in a warm hug and told him, "I'm so proud of you, buddy. You handled it really well, you are a baby no more!"

I have a son too, and i am excited to have this kind of experience. Car check ups should be done every often to avoid bigger problems. Good luck

Nah! bro, better get your long patience ready if your son just got circumcised! You can’t even clean it properly! It’s like he’s always on high alert, afraid he might get bumped. Plus, mine cries instantly, even before I do anything yet!

Maybe he was jut overthinking, i hope it will heal soon mam
