Today I will go to the Comilla district with 3 Steemian brothers @mahadisalim @shahid76 for Eid vacation. One of my Steemian brothers' villages is in Comilla so we plan to go there today. So I woke up at 06.00 in the morning, got up and freshened up and in some time I got ready and went to a place called Chittagong Road to meet everyone.

1000032035.jpg1000033095.jpg

we boarded a direct bus to go to Comilla district. After boarding the bus, we kept seeing the beautiful scenery outside, it made our trip even more enjoyable.

It is about 80 kilometers long, the bus fare is 200 taka per person. We got off the bus in about 1 hour and 15 minutes at a place called Comilla Kotbari, from there we took a rickshaw to a restaurant and had breakfast with roasted vegetable khichuri and fried eggs. The breakfast bill for 3 of us was 350 taka. From there we planned to go to Shalban Bihar. So we reached there in a short time by taking a rickshaw.

When we reached Shalban Vihar, we bought tickets there, and the ticket price was 30 taka per person. Since there is a car parking facility in front of Shalban Vihar, people come here by car from far and wide. Since it is one of the monuments of the ancient civilization of Bengal, many people come here every day to visit it.

Shalban Vihar is one of the archaeological monuments excavated in Mainamati, Comilla, and this place is named Shalban because there is a Shalban behind this monastery. It is closed on Sundays and is open from 10.00 am to 5.00 pm.

As soon as we entered, we enjoyed a wonderful beauty. However, although it looks like the Paharpur Buddhist monastery, it is slightly smaller than it. The ancient Buddhist monastery in Shalban Vihar is quite beautiful, and we have visited it from every place. There are many things like houses of the past, but when you see them, you remember where a much bigger civilization was. It has been broken since long ago and the beauty of what little is left is immense.

We are at a high place there and it is believed that it was a temple and a residence, although it exists, we cannot identify it in that way because it was built about 1300 years ago and it is believed from history. Since it is so many years ago, we can still see it. However, since it has been underground for many years, the government rediscovers it after a few years of its existence.

1000032312.jpg1000033152.jpg

We continue to enjoy good times there. Seeing or knowing such an ancient civilization brings us good things, but there is a gate in this shalban through which one can enter. When we were thirsty for water while walking around in the heat, we drank juice from there and it relieved our thirst.

After leaving there, we went to the New Shalban Vihara. This is the academy of Buddhist culture. Here they are taught and in another place, their center of worship, and there are many statues inside the center. These statues were given as a gift from the Buddhist foundation in Thailand.

As soon as you enter, you will see a statue on the top and two below are like royal snakes. When you see it, the first thing that comes to mind is gold, but it is all made of brass and since it is made of high-quality brass, it is forbidden to touch it. Its beauty was enhanced by the sunlight.

When we came out of there and it was lunchtime, we had lunch at several food shops nearby. The food included rice, chicken meat, dal, potato stew, tomato chutney, lentil bhaji, etc. We had a good lunch there, the bill for the food for 3 of us was only 350 taka.

After finishing our meal, we rested for some time. After resting, we took a CNG car and went to Lalmai Hills. There is a shrine on this hill which many Muslims come to visit and offer prayers at this shrine mosque. However, there are several stairs to climb the hill. So it was not that difficult to climb the mountain. Even after climbing the mountain, I could see a lot of nature, which made me more interested because I like nature a lot.

1000032799.jpg1000032794.jpg

However, the mountain was made of red soil, so this mountain was named Lalmai Pahar. I lost myself in the mountain for a while, when I looked down from the mountain, it seemed to calm my mind. Seeing a house in the mountains and the mountain road to go to that house and the trees on the side made me happy.

1000032939.jpg1000032998.jpg

After seeing the mountains, in the afternoon we took CNG to another place. This is the Mainamati War Cemetery, a Commonwealth War Cemetery located in the Comilla district of Bangladesh. This is the cemetery of Indian (then) and British soldiers killed in World War II (1939-1945). There are 736 graves here and those graves are placed in a row.

However, the cemetery is very beautiful and has been opened to the public to keep the graves in memory. Currently, it is under the control of the army. The interior is very beautiful and the names, ages, and birthplaces of each grave are marked.

1000033087.jpg1000033081.jpg

After leaving there, we bought 2 kg of Rasmalai from the most popular Ras Malai shop in Comilla and the food there. There was a lot of crowd there so we had to stand in line to buy this Ras Malai.

After buying Ras Malai, evening came, we went to the bus counter and bought tickets and when the bus arrived on time, we sat down. After about 2 hours, we took the bus to our home. After returning home, we freshened up, had dinner and fell asleep.
