The Diary Game: 08.08.2025 | A Friday to Remember

Sometimes the simplest plans bring the most joy and yesterday was one of those days. My close younger brother Shamim Hossain, who lives in our colony, had his family away on vacation. I also heard that my other younger brother, Ae-Arfin, would be coming to Parbatipur. Knowing that he’s a great cook, I thought, “Why not have a little dinner party at Shamim’s house?” Yesterday evening, both of them were excited about this small get-together, and so was I.

On Friday morning, Shamim and I went to the market to buy chicken for dinner, and I also brought my little niece along. For her, it was a whole new world for her, she had never been to the market before! She looked surprised by everything around and seemed to enjoy Shamim’s company a lot.

I spotted some fresh fish but didn’t buy any since chicken was already on the menu. I also picked up some eggs to make sure we had a few extras like boiled eggs if needed. After getting everything, we headed back home. After shopping, I took a shower and then went to the mosque for Jummah prayer. Once I got back, I had a quick lunch and some rest before the evening fun began.

In the evening, I went over to Shamim’s house, where Ae-Arfin had already arrived. We had some light-hearted fun before the real work and cooking began. I jokingly told them to hurry up, while I relaxed with my phone for a bit. Later, I got up to help, but honestly, the younger brothers were doing an amazing job on their own.

Ae-Arfin is a fantastic cook, and when he started preparing chicken curry, the aroma filled the room and it was mouthwatering! Along with the curry, he also cooked hotchpotch (khichuri). Before dinner, I stepped out and grabbed a bottle of cold drink to make it complete.

By the time everything was ready, it was already past 10 PM, but the wait was worth it. The taste of the chicken curry and hotchpotch was absolutely delicious. After dinner, we relaxed for a few minutes and then decided to take a short walk near the railway offices to enjoy some fresh air. It was the perfect way to wrap up the night.
Eventually, the brothers walked me near my house before heading back. It wasn’t a grand celebration, but it was a memorable evening full of laughter, good food, and family bonding. Truly, these are the moments that make life beautiful.
My diary ends here. May everyone be healthy and safe by the grace of Allah. I will try to share my activities with you for the next day.
