Review-Pohela Boishakh - "witness to the cultural heritage of Bangladesh."
Hello Steemit friends,
How are you all? I hope you are all well by the grace of Allah. I am also fine by the grace of Allah.Pohela Baishakh is a festive day in the life of the Bengali nation. The month of Baishakh is the first month of the 12 Bengali months. The entire countrymen get ready to welcome the first day of this month. Celebrating this day is a part of our tradition.
It is not known exactly when the custom of celebrating Pohela Baishakh as the New Year began, but since the time of Emperor Akbar, various events have been celebrated with special dignity on this day.
Originally, Pohela Baishakh was the day of collecting annual taxes, paying off old transactions and welcoming new ones in the new year in a joyful atmosphere. However, this practice gradually became popular among businessmen. Nowadays, almost all businessmen set this day as the day for full payment of transactions. In common parlance, we call this method Halkhata.
This is the story of the businessmens Baishakh celebrations. Also, a general holiday was declared long ago to make the first Baishakh joyful. Special festivals are celebrated through cultural institutions like Chhayanaut and Charukala under the patronage of the government.
Especially in the historic Ramna Batmul, a program of new and old music of Baishakh is organized from the morning. This is a traditional festival. We all know that the program of Ramna Batmul is attended with a special atmosphere. The walks of famous cultural figures are full of joy. Everyone's eyes can see a fountain of joy. The special clothes of Baishakh, which are red and white, or red, with an abundance of red crafts, are seen on this day.
Not only that, to welcome the Bengali New Year, Chhayanaut and Charukala organize special programs to connect the whole country in a festive atmosphere. A special procession is taken out with the participation of people of all classes. The procession is taken around the city with various symbols of the native culture. This mass procession is done to drive away the evil, erase the old sorrows and spend the coming days with new enthusiasm and new hope. Which we know as Mangal Shobhajatra.
To increase the joy of Baishakh, special food is arranged on that day. In every house, Bengali traditional dishes are specially cooked. For example, we are called Bengali with fish and rice. This fish and rice are given special importance and food is eaten in the morning with panta rice, fried hilsa fish, dried chili, green chili, and onion. The practice of eating special food on this special day has been around for a long time.
On this special day, vendors bring many traditional Bengali toys so that children can enjoy the festival. On this special day, children happily roam around with those toys and enjoy the festival.
We celebrate various festivals throughout the year, many of which are related to our culture and some to the culture of other countries. But Pohela Boishakh is our own unique event. This event is part of our tradition. Pohela Boishakh is mixed with our blood. Pohela Boishakh reminds us of our tradition, our true identity.
Pohela Boishakh reminds us again and again that we are Bengalis, we have our own beautiful culture. Let's make today's Pohela Boishakh day more beautiful, more joyful. Let's welcome the new day by erasing all the old sorrows and spreading the native culture to everyone.
