Contest📢 : The impact of modern vehicles in the current world

As time comes goes on, we have evolved and learned new things that improve us in every aspect in life, most especially in our technology, although some of our technological inventions tend to cause us and our environment more harm than good, but then we all also have the ones that brings about positive changes to us such as the use of electronic cars and renewable energies.
How do you view fuel-powered vehicles in the modern world? Can you highlight their importance? |
---|
Like I earlier stated, we are moving towards the global acceptance of electric cars and leaving behind our old rusty fuel-powered vehicles. But let me ask you something, has the fuel-powered vehicles just become bad or we are changing because we've evolved? I believe it's the later.
This is because, before now fuel-powered vehicles were the best inventions humans had, now they are like trusty old friends, having been around for a long time. Here is my view, we know how they work, they have been reliable over the years and can get us where we need to go. As old as they may seem, they are still important in some ways such as:
Being Accessibility:
Unlike Electric cars that need special treatment and roads, fuel-powered vehicles are in every corner of the world and virtually every one knows how to use them.
Cheaper Cost:
Have you seen the requirements and prices of the latest electric cars, then you will know that fuel-powered vehicles are often cheaper to buy and maintain than electric vehicles.
Longer Range:
Unlike Electric cars, we can drive them for a long time without needing to recharge.
Therefore, as much as we all seek for cleaner and more sustainable transportation, I believe they still have a place in our world today due to these reasons.
How environmentally friendly do you think fuel-powered cars are? Explain with reasoning. |

We are now dishing our trusty reliable friend because it is not as clean as the new toys, but then how long before we see these new toys become old fashioned?

Being honest, fuel-powered cars are not exactly the greenest machines we have right now on the planet and here is why:
Burning Fossil Fuels:
They run on gasoline or diesel which are made from what we know as crude oil, to which burning this oil releases harmful gases into the air, like carbon dioxide, which contributes to climate change.
Pollution:
The exhaust from fuel-powered cars are known to contain tiny particles which is considered to be bad for our health and the environment.
Oil Extraction:
Being from an area or country that has an abundance of crude oil, I can tell you that getting the oil to make gasoline is not always environmentally friendly as it involves drilling, which can damage ecosystems and pollute our natural water bodies.
So while fuel-powered cars can be convenient and less expensive, they come with a price tag that is deemed costly for the environment, and this is the reason why we are seeing a shift towards electric vehicles.
Do you believe that the overuse of fossil fuels could cause them to disappear from the Earth? |
---|
It is called non-renewable energy for a reason and being someone who have witnessed how a crude well has dried up, I can tell you that it is a yes for me.
We can see it is like having a safe at home where we put in our money, then we start spending the money we have put in, what happens if we are not putting money into the safe but only spending? Exactly, eventually we will run out of money to spend. Fossil fuels are like the money we are putting in the safe, which means that they are limited resource. I know you would want to say then we should be putting in more money as we spend, but then that's not how fossil fuel works because:
Fossil fuels formed over millions of years:
This is because they are made from ancient plants and animals that were buried and compressed over time.
We are using them faster than they are being replenished:
Since it takes millions of years to make fossil fuels and we are using them at an alarming rate, we will run out of fuel before new ones may form.
Therefore, if we keep using them up at this rate, we will run out of fossil fuel eventually, and this is why we are looking for alternative sources of energy, like electrical, solar, wind power etc to avoid running out of fossil fuels.
Mention the advantages and disadvantages of fuel oil powered vehicles. |
---|
ADVANTAGES
Accessibility:
They are everywhere in the world and most people know how to use them, the same is to finding gas stations.
Cost:
They are often cheaper to buy than electric vehicles, and fuel is generally cheaper than electricity.
Range:
We can drive them for a long time without needing to refuel as a full tank of gas can take us hundreds of miles.
Performance:
They can be very powerful and deliver good acceleration, especially in trucks and SUVs.
DISADVANTAGES
Environmental Impact:
They burn fossil fuels that release harmful gases into the air, contributing to climate change.
Pollution:
The exhaust from these cars contains tiny particles that can be bad for our health and the environment.
Dependence on Fossil Fuels:
We are relying on a limited resource that is not being replenished quickly enough.
Noise:
They can be loud and contribute to noise pollution, especially in urban areas.
How can we reduce the use of fossil fuels in vehicles? Are there any exceptions? |

This is about us needing to make some changes to our transportation from a rather old fashioned style to the modern era and here is how I feel we can do it.
REDUCE FOSSIL FUEL USE
Electric Vehicles:
I no longer news to us that we now have cars that runs on electricity. Therefore, this can be considered a safer means for us and the environment as its energy can be generated from renewable sources like solar and wind.
Hybrid Vehicles:
These are also vehicle types that use both gasoline and electricity so they get better gas mileage. This however does not eliminate the use of fossil fuel like electric cars, but rather helps in reducing the use of fossil fuel.
The Use of Biofuels:
These are also known as biological fuels as they are fuels made from plants and other renewable sources. Hence, using such fuels can help us reduce our dependency on fossil fuel.
Use of Public Transportation:
The use of public buses, trains, and subways can also help reduce our use of fossil fuel than everyone using their individual cars as it reduces the number of cars on the road.
Cycling and Walking:
For short distances, these are the most eco-friendly options.
EXCEPTIONS
Well, as it stands, I believe not all vehicles can totally avoid the use of fossil fuels, hence we can use fossil fuel to power them, such as:
Heavy Duty Vehicles:
Trucks and other large vehicles often need more power than electric vehicles can currently provide, therefore we can continue to use fossil fuel on them.
Long-Distance Travel:
We don't want our vehicles needing charging on a long trip, do we? what if were we are going doesn't have a charging spot? Therefore, we need fossil fuel vehicles for such trips since our electric vehicles may not have enough range, especially in areas with limited charging infrastructure.
Remote Areas:
In places without access to electricity or charging stations like my country Nigeria, fossil fuels are still our only option for now.
I want to take this opportunity to invite @bossj23, @ikwal and @ruthjoe.
