The terminal is located on the banks of the Buriganga River at Shyampur, on the Dhaka to Narayanganj Highway. The terminal is located fifteen kilometres from the capital, Dhaka. There are numerous industrial factories on both sides of the Buriganga River. Shyampur Terminal is used by factory owners to import and export goods. Shyampur Terminal has reduced the cost of importing and exporting goods for industrial factory owners. There is a large area in front of the terminal for loading and unloading goods. The vehicles carrying the goods are kept in a specific place.

There is a narrow covered path to enter the terminal, which is built over the river. A few workers are working on loading and unloading goods.
