The Diarygame || I spent the entire day serving, guiding, and quietly making a difference in my hospital and team || 24 May, 2025
Hello everyone,
Like every morning, today also started from the door of the hospital, but it only looks like every day but it does not happen. Today, when I reached the hospital, both a slight stress and a perseverance were both together. As usual, I first met patients. Asked their conditions, know about their medicines and care. Some old faces were found smiling, and some new faces showed concern, but they all had a trust in their eyes. Trust on our team, our service. Every time someone says to me, "Now looks a little better," it seems as if the beginning of the day has been successful.
After meeting the patients, I went out directly for Infection Prevention Audit. Going to every ward and saw which infection control parameters are being followed properly and where improvement is needed. I closely inspected all these aspects of masks, PPE status, availability of sanitizer and use of all these aspects. Many places showed improvement, which was the result of staff's hard work, but some corners also relaxed, which was noted. During this process, I also talked to the staff, telling them easy ways to improve small improvements so that they too can make their work infection-safe without stress.

Today was also a bit different. One of our nursing staff named Meat and her birthday. As soon as the audit was over, I finished the round a little quickly and gave everyone a small surprise. We cut the cake, everyone congratulated Meet, and for some time the atmosphere became light. The hospital environment is often serious, but such short moments give mental relief in a way. Meet had a glow in his eyes.
Perhaps his hard work is being appreciated and his day was remembered. Seeing the team with a family feels like a family. Which is above a profession.

By noon, I returned to my core responsibilities. Today's most important task was a focused training session about the care of vulnerable patients. I gathered my nursing staff and started a structured training with them. First gave them information related to Patient Safety, Nutrition, Mobility, Hygiene, and Psychological Needs. Then I took pre-test of everyone to know what they already know about this subject. After that, through training, they told them different clinical Scenarios, interacted on them, and then tried to understand to understand through the post-test.

When I analyzed the results, it was clear that most of the staff had alarned a lot from training. His score in post-test was far better than pre-test. This was a very satisfactory moment for me. It felt like today was not just a routine duty, but also a day to help in changing someone's attitude. The team's response was also very positive. He described training as practical and work, making it clear that are considering it not just a formal task, but a Learning Opportunity.

It was tired by the evening, but my checklist was not fulfilled. I once again took rounds, especially in units where Patient load is more. This time my main objective was to accept Hand Hygiene. I saw Staff's handwashing steps, checked Sanitizer's availability, and reminded them of WHO's 5 Moments of Hand Hygiene.
Some staff got very good in washing hands, as if they have every step. But there were some who had to explain that it is not enough to wash your hands, the way should also be right. I explained to them very comfortably why the right process of washing hands is necessary, and how a mistake can also be a risk for a patient. It was nice to see that most of the people understood the matter and tried it again. Some have said themselves that they will take more care from the front. On such an occasion, it seems that if we improve some things every day, then there can be a big difference. These are small things that make infection control actually effective.

After the round I returned to my office. There were already some administer work left, but more than that it was a virtual training session in which I had to participate. This training infection was related to surveillance and was held at the National Level. It found information about some new tools and Audit Techniques that can improve my audits in future. I also saved the entire recording of that session so that I could later share with my team.

When everything was settled, the clock was playing 6, but I had made up my mind to stop. For the last few days, the piles and chaos of files in the office had been disturbing. So I decided to name Office Clean-up this evening. Gradually open every drawer, see old papers, extracted unnecessary goods and discard the things that were useless. As things became clean, the mind also became lighter. This work seems modest to hear, but when you work in a clean place every day, it affects both your work and mood.

Finally, when I got out of the office, it was 8 o'clock in the night. There was definitely fatigue in the body, but there was a satisfaction in the mind. Today did not go vacant. From patients to their staff, and from themselves to their office, nothing is missed everywhere. This was a day where I did not just work, but touched every aspect where something could be done better.
