SFS Contest Picture of the Day Week 37

Today, I will participate in the new contest from Steem Fashion&Style brought by the honorable Moderator @ashkhan ma'am. The name of the Contest is"SFS Contest Picture of the Day Week 37". Bangladesh is a riverine country. Rivers and boats are intertwined. Boats play a special role in the country's economic activities and culture. Boats of different designs can be seen in different parts of the country. Although boats are gradually disappearing at present, we have to talk about the sampan boat of Chittagong in particular. The design of the sampan boat has given it a kind of royal feel or a different dimension. Sampan is a Cantonese word. Its lexicon is three planks. Sam means three and pen means plank. The Chinese sampan has a flat plank under the hull which is connected to the planks on both sides. However, the sampan of Chittagong does not have three planks.

Over time, the use of sampan boats has decreased. This boat is not often seen anymore. But suddenly I found this historic sampan boat inside the Bashundhara Shopping Mall. After seeing it, I visited the historically famous boat.
How many people and goods used to travel from one place to another with this U-shaped boat? There is no count of how many people chose the sampan boat as their main source of livelihood. People from the cultural sector have also composed stories, poems and songs about the sampan boat. Today, the sampan boat is an element of architecture and enhances the beauty of the shopping mall. People who come to the mall stop at least once when they see the strange and beautiful boat. Impressed by the design of the boat, they take pictures with the boat. Children try to get the feeling of sitting in the boat, even for a while.

The sampan boat is not only popular in Bangladesh or only seen in Chittagong, Bangladesh. This boat is popular in many countries of the world. This traditional boat is also found in China, Myanmar, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand in Southeast Asia. Until 1983, this sampan boat made an important contribution to the economy of Singapore. This boat was the main means of water travel for travelers. That historic sampan boat is about to be lost in the lap of time.
Although some sampan boats can still be seen in one or two areas of Chittagong, maybe they will also disappear someday. Only their pictures will remain. Maybe the sampan boat will appear as an architectural item inside a shopping mall like this. Today, I present some pictures of historical sampan boats for my Steemian friends, which will enrich our memory.
