Hello Steemit Community Friends,
Golden afternoon light floods the living room floor. It shows the dust motes dancing in the silent air. This peaceful moment starts a cherished routine in our home. It signals Kitty's afternoon nap time.
She suddenly appears, a small shadow from the hall. She starts with a big, slow stretch. Her back arches way up, front paws reaching out. Claws pop out, then slide back into the rug.
Then comes a little yawn. You see her pink tongue and tiny sharp teeth. Her green eyes are always so playful. Now they look soft, ready for sleep.
Finding the right spot takes great care. She checks the sofa cushions. She rejects the old armchair. Her focus lands right on the biggest sunbeam. It pools exactly on the oriental rug.
This is the perfect spot. She walks in slow circles, like a ceremony. She kneads the air, then pushes into the rug. She makes a small nest of comfort. Finally, a quiet sigh escapes her. Then she just collapses completely.
She looks like a perfect swirl of cinnamon now. She is a little ball of ginger and cream fur. Her breathing is light and steady. It matches the slow, soft rhythm of the whole house. An ear sometimes twitches. It picks up a distant bird or the fridge motor.
Her whiskers are usually moving a lot. Now they are just relaxed against the rug. Sometimes a low, quiet purr starts in her chest. It sounds like a happy, tiny motor running.
Watching her makes my own stress melt away. She shows you how to truly relax. She is not worried about treats tomorrow. She does not care about the mouse she missed yesterday.
She simply rests in this warm, sunny moment. Everything else can wait for later. Right now, we only have the warm sunshine. We have the soft sounds of sleep. I just enjoy the presence of my little cat, Kitty.
Soon she will wake up and stretch once more. She will blink those sleepy green eyes at me. Then she will be ready for the evening’s trouble. But for now, she is pure, absolute peace.
