The Dairy Game: 02 - 04 - 2025 || The Weight of a Father/Husband Responsibilities||
I rubbed the sleep from my eyes and swung my legs over the side of bed, my feet dangling in the air. The first task of the day: wake up the kids, and wife. I gently knocked on their bedroom door, calling out, "Rise and shine," babes". Time to get moving!"
My wife, Ekaeta, groggily open the door, her hair a tangled mess, and her eyes half closed . "Babe, do I have to get up now?" She whined.
I smile patiently. "Yes sweetie, you do. We need to get going soon. Breakfast is waiting for you in the kitchen.
I found my two Son's buried under a pile of blankets. "Come on, son's, time to wake up! I exclaimed, pulling back to covers.
The morning routine was a well-oiled machine, but it still took some finesse to get my son's dressed, fed, and ready to go on time. I expertly juggled making breakfast, packing lunches, and reminding my wife to brush their teeth.
As they sat down to eat, I felt a sense of pride and accomplishment. I did my best to provide for my family despite the hard times, and I knew the appreciate my efforts.
With the fueled up and ready to go, I herded them out of the door and into the taxi I ordered. The drive to school was a short one, but it was always a challenge to navigate the morning traffic.
As the they pulled up to the school entrance, I felt a pang of nostalgia. Time was flying by, and my babies were growing up fast. I hugged them both tightly, feeling a mix of emotions: pride , and love.
"Have a great day kids," I said, I'll see you both after school.
As the they stepped out of the car, I took a deep breath, feeling the weight weight of my responsibilities as a father, it wasn't always easy, with the hardship hardship faced us in Nigeria, but I was determined to give my kids and wife the best life possible.
With a final wave, I watched as they disappeared into the crowd of puppils pouring into the school.
I headed back to the taxi, ready to face whatever the day had in store for me.
I hope you enjoy my creative diary. Thanks for reading. See you next time.
