The Diary Game 3: June 8, 2025. A Day Filled with Music, Surprises, and Starlink installation

I woke up way earlier than i usually do on a sunday. The alarm buzzed at 5:30am and for a while i thought of hitting the snooze button and going back to sleep. But then i remembered that i had an appointment with someone to do a birthday surprise early this morning.

I dragged myself out of bed, washed up quickly and grabbed my saxophone case. We agreed to meet at exactly 6am but places where still dark for me to go out. The idea was to wake the birthday celebrant from bed with a surprise and sound of the saxophone. The person who contacted me had also arranged for a few others to show up, so the surprise will be massive. Everything went as planned, we did the surprise, gifts was handed to the birthday celebrant. He later offered everyone who was present something to drink. For me it was still early and so i left without having anything.

I usually play the saxophone during church service, but today our bass guitarist was out of town, so i had to fil in. I dont mind playing bass. Its a different kind of groove, more about holding down the rhythm of a song as compared to the saxophone.

The worship team had rehearsed a few songs earlier in the week, so i wasn't completely lost. While playing, there was this random moments of panic especially figuring out the chord progression of a song.
After service, a few people came up to me and said i didn't know you are this good on bass too. I just laughed.

When i was home after church service, my day took an unexpected turn. A friend of mine, had been complaining about his terrible internet for months.He lives in a remote area and the local ISP just couldn't give him a stable connection. He gave me money some days back to get him a starlink so he can start using. So over the weekend i got it and today sunday was installation day.

I drove over to his place after church with the starlink kit in hand. While at his place, we needed to firs find the best spot for the dish. We spent 30 minutes moving the dish around like it was a game to find the perfect angle.
Finally i completed the setup and before i could leave, he was already streaming 4k videos just because he could.

After that, i had one more commitment before calling it a day. This was playing the sax at an engagement party.
When i got home, it was already 4pm. I took my sax and drove immediately to the venue wheer the engagement had to take place. The engagement party was for a cousin of a friend, so this was not super close, but close enough that I couldn’t say no. The event was indoors, in a nicely decorated room with fairy lights.

I played a mix of jazz and pop covers, ed sheeran. There is something about live music that just changes the vibe of any gathering. I played for about 20 minutes, and finally headed back home as i called it a day.
