The Diary Game 3: June 4, 2025. A Day of Productivity and Technical Challenges

I woke up at 6:30AM, feeling slightly groggy but motivated to tackle my day. After a few minutes of stretching and shaking off sleep, i dragged myself out of the bed and went to the bathroom for a shower.

By 7:15AM i was done with my shower and dressed up, ready for the day. I had my breakfast, and while doing so , i quickly went through my whatsapp messages and email through my phone. Today was going to be a big day, as i had a site survey and feasibility study scheduled at an organization looking to upgrade its old network infrastructure.

Before leaving the house, i knew i had to get some chores out of the way, so i spent the net hour tidying up. I cleaned the dishes and organized my homespace.

By 9AM, the house was in decent shape and i felt a small sense of accomplishment. I packed my bag with my laptop, network testing tools, and a notebook to where i had to do the survey. I drove my bike to the organization site, a medium sized company with multiple buildings that had been relying on an outdated network setup for years.

Upon arriva, i was greeted by the IT manager, who briefed me on their current challenges.
I started by inspecting their existing setup, firstly with their server room. The core switches were old, some with failing ports. The cabling was a mess and unlabeled, some cables were even damaged.

I ran several tests.... Ping and traceroute, bandwidth test, and security scan as i found multiple unsecured ports and outdated firmware.

After assessing the issues, i sat down with the IT manager to propose a new infrastructure which will involve replacing new switches,structured cabling, Wi-fi overhaul, redundancy. He was impressed with the plan and asked for a formal proposal by next week. I took detailed notes and photos for my report.

By 3pm, i was done with the survey, and my brain was tired from analyzing so mucd data, but i was excited about the project. Immdiately i got home, i started drafting my findings, as i started with a network topology diagram using lucidchart. I listed all required hardware with cost estimates.

Just as i was about to relax, my friend called me saying his laptop had been acting up and overheating. Since i have repaired PCs before, he asked if i could take a look. I told him to bring it over, when he arrived, i did some diagnostics. After cleaning and reassembling the laptop, it booted faster and ran cooler. My friend insisted on paying me but i rather see it helping a friend to be its own reward.

By 8pm, i was exhausted as i ended my day by watching a football match between Portugal and Germany, where by Portugal end up winning Germany 2 goals to 1
