What do you know about Nigerian white soup?

I bring greeting from Nigeria, in my country we have a special soup that is popularly known as White soup , Ofe-Nsala or Afia- Efere. This soup is one of it's kind in occasions
So many people request for it due to the taste .

These are the ingredients used in preparing our Nigerian white soup.

  • Yam
  • Utazi seed
  • Uyayak
  • Fresh pepper
  • Goat meat preferably
  • Crayfish (optional)
  • Unshell periwinkle (optional)
  • Dry fish
  • Stock fish
  • Salt
  • Seasoning cubes

Directions for preparation.

Get your preferred protein such as chicken meat cow meat or goat meat, wash thoroughly, peel your white yam for thickening, blend the cooked yam, and set aside, cook your meat with your seasoning cubes,pepper and salt to taste add the dry fish and stock fish. When the proteins are cooked pour your blended yam and cover ,open to check how thick it is, add your Uyayak remember to remove when the soup is ready. At this stage the soup aroma will be everywhere and inviting. Slice your uziza leaf and put at this time bring the soup down that's how our Nigerian white soup is prepared by most people though choice of making the soup varies according to people's taste.

The soup can be eaten with any swallow , Garri, pounded yam, semo , Agidi or wheat.

Health benefits of white soup.

The benefits of white soup cannot be overlooked, because the ingredients are more of natural things which is good for the body.

  • Low fat. White soup contains low fat because there's no artificial oil used in cooking it

  • High in protein. This soup is very good there's more of protein in the soup.

  • Good for the eyes. It contains Omega-3 that is good for the eye.
