THE COST OF SURVIVAL IN NIGERIA: DATA HIKES, POWER OUTAGES & THE STRUGGLE TO KEEP GOING
Since the hike prices on data, I haven't been able to buy data for my line. The most devastating part about it, is that; the data is expensive and it doesn't last. You literally don't know how and when it finishes. Imagine buying 2 gigabytes for 1,000 naira and it finishes in three hours. That used to be 500 naira. 💔
Things just keep getting out of hand for Nigerians. I logged in, checked my profile this morning and it has been more than a week since I made a post here. The goal for this month was to make at least one post a day but I haven't made any in nine days because of data.
It's so crazy when your country is the reason why you can't achieve your dreams. It's so painful to know that you are doing your very best; working hard and smart but nothing, absolutely nothing to show for it. 💔
There are other factors that challenge individuals of this country, Nigeria too and no stable electricity is among them. You could be working and all of a sudden, there is no power for you to continue or complete your job.
One time, I was kicked out of a competition because I didn't show up for a whole day. I was doing well until there was no light for two days for me to charge my device. When I charged and got back, I was already disqualified. I cried all day.
Then, you'll think of buying a generator but the price isn't something you can afford. How about fuel selling for 800+ naira per liter? How many liters do you think can power your generator for 24 hours? Thinking of solar? The price is worse. It's devastating! It's heartbreaking!
Nigerians don't know until when this will last but I hope at the end of the day, there is a reward for everyone who worked hard and smart; everyone who kept pushing during the hard times.
I hope things get better because as it is now, the situation of the country is driving people into depression.
