My Diary Game: TOURING AROUND NEW ENVIRONMENT AND OTHER ENGAGEMENTS – 16/10/2025

I am excited knowing that you all are fine and that God can never forsake His own children. A happy and celebratory weekend to you all. Yesterday I remained indoors from morning; it is safe to say that I incubated the bed, resting from the stressful days before. One of the Steemians (@mayjay), in one of her articles on this community, enumerated the importance of rest, and I decided to be the reader, the hearer and the doer of her advice.

In the morning, I woke up to assist my wife for my son to go to school, but I wasn't far from bed. Anyway, she asked to do it, and as I am done with it, I will find myself on the bed. I bathed the boy; while she was feeding him, I was already in bed.

At about 7:05 am, the boy hugged me in the bed to say goodbye, and he was taken to school, while my wife went from there to work.I slept, prayed and read a book called “Purpose Driven Life” authored by Rick Warren, a great American preacher and writer who had had firsthandexperience in church and a purposeful life. I read day 33, which encourages being a real servant to both God and humanity. Through the afternoon, I was studying, and later, when my family came back, we all slept again.

A member of our church who lives in the neighbourhood came to visit us around 5:20pm. He stayed a while. As I walked him down the street, he asked if I have toured the environment and seen beautiful sites. Since I parked in the area, I responded “NO!” He jovially said, “Let me be your tour guide.” I obliged. We moved from street to street while I noted the key features of the environment. We visited the ravine that cut across many local governments in Akwa Ibom State. As we went on, I saw the synagogue of the Jewish community. I have a friend who is a Jew by the name of “Abba Moshe”; I had to take a picture. We then pushed on, although I was tired, but I endured so I could be familiar with the place I live.

The next site was where the state government is building a beautiful recreational centre called "ARISE RESORT CENTRE, cutting through the ravine. The security operatives did not grant us access; we stood afar, and I managed to take a shot with my phone. That movement took us until nightfall. We joyfully went our separate ways. On getting to the house, there was no water, due to issues for some time now.
I had to go a little farther to fetch 6 rubbers of water. Around 8pm, I gathered all the waste in the house to the general trash location along Brook Street, the closest to where I live.I enjoyed the cool of the evening as I did all of that. The lighting all over the streets of Uyo will not allow hens and cocks to sleep, turning diurnal animals into nocturnal ones. But then when the call of nature comes to sleep, the eyes will give out their strength.

I didn't sleep without listening to news, updating on the newly elected Independence National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Nigeria. The senate, which sat on 16 October, 2025, confirmed Professor Joash Ojo Amupitan as the new INEC chairman. After the news and dinner, I bathed and retired to incubate the bed again.

1. Do not isolate yourself from the new environment you're moving in.
2. The knowledge of your environment is the best security tip.
3. Work and rest: it refreshes.
4. I will always say this: assist your wife in domestic services.
