The Diary Game [30/05/2025] // Our First Day in a New Neighbourhood.

Steem greetings @everyone from the motherland- Cameroon to all my amazing followers on the Steemit ecosystem. It has been weeks of planning to relocate with my kids to a more safer and secure place. We have been living in fear of the unknown as the conflict between the government and armed separatist groups since 2016. Our kids have been deprived of putting on school uniforms by separatist fighters and are easily targeted for ransom.

The frequent lockdowns imposed by separatist fighters has also a negative impact and infringe on our rights to freedom of movement. It affects the number of days our kids are in school. Frequent explosives and gunshots over the years have caused a lot of trauma to my kids and I decided so that they can heal from all the negativity caused by the conflict.

That said, we had travelled over the night and arrived safely at our destination. It was a tough decision to take and cost a lot but we thank God that it all went through. When we arrived that morning, the cargo driver called us to direct him to the location. We tried directing him to no avail, and had to take the car to meet him where he was and direct him on the road.

I was exhausted and my level of fatigue was not easy but I had to force things to go through. It was early in the morning and the roads were almost empty but few persons and cars could be spotted on the way.

It seems the driver was not familiar with the place and it was difficult to direct the road on the phone. At one point, we had to park the car at a petrol station and describe to him the location before he could locate us. We drove ahead while he followed us as we led. It was another challenging moment offloading the things from the car. We had to beg neighbours to help us offload. The driver was not happy with the whole arrangement as he made us understand that the person who came to us and made the arrangements was not a driver but a loader at the park. I was also angry because they destroyed some of my things in the course of loading the things into the cargo truck.

Offloading the things from the cargo truck was not easy.

After offloading, I was famished but we had no cooked food to eat. Setting up the things was another challenging moment to face but I did not allow that to trouble my mind. I saw a life-saving paw-paw and I immediately peeled it to eat.

The Life-saving Pawpaw.

After eating the paw-paw, my neighbour came through with rice for my kids to eat. I fed them and we showered and slept till the evening hours we tried to arrange some of the things in the apartment. It was challenging as we realised some of our things missing while some were destroyed. We had to call the person who made the arrangements to carry our things and all he could say was to apologize.

In the course of setting up the things, we realised that we needed to change some of the bulbs as they were not bright. We had to walk to a nearby store to purchase bulbs.

While on the road, places were busy and strange to us because of where we were coming from, by this time, the streets were almost empty and you could spot a few cars moving on the road. We returned home, put on the bulbs and I fried some potato chips and omelette for the kids as dinner. It was indeed a day full of energy to carry along with the activities. Until my next diary guys, enjoy the weekend while waiting for the Champions League final tonight. I'm still to decide which team to support but for any team that plays entertaining football, I will support them.

Wahoo, what a stressful day and journey for you and your family, its not easy to load and offload, It needs strength and energy. Thank God for your new neighbors they are caring for helping out and even having the consciousness to give food for your children what a kind gesture, down here in Nigeria no one would even think of such, they will rather watch you die than helping out.
Do enjoy your new apartment and environment.
Stay safe with love.
