The Diary Game [26/05/2025] // A Day at Home due to Lockdown
Steen greetings @everyone from the motherland-Cameroon and welcome to my blog for another session of my lifestyle content. Guys, it's been a normal routine now in my neighbourhood as every Monday are lockdown declared by separatist fighters. Apparently, this day is the start of the work week in every other part of the world but for us, our workweek starts on Tuesdays due to the conflict for over 8 years now and counting.
On such days, a lot is going on in different locations as some gatherings like meeting houses now prefer to hold meetings on this day. It's more now like a Sunday for us while Sundays are busy days at the market. Today happens to be the day of our resident meeting and all tenants are required to attend the meeting. In the meeting, we discussed with the caretaker issues related to our stay and also other matters. It is a tradition in my community that in such social gatherings, cash is being deposited to benefit one person each meeting sitting which is commonly known as “njangi”.

I usually do not attend this meeting because of my commitments but my husband used to attend once in a while when he was free. But in this day, I had to attend because it was my last meeting with other tenants and the caretaker as I will relocate before the next meeting. It was a brief meeting and I left to prepare breakfast for the kids. I had bread and fried some eggs to drink tea with.
After eating, I had lot of work to be done and I had to put together all the field data together and start doing the analysis. At one point I had to contact the team I'm working with as we concluded the project and put together the reports.
My whole day was bent on completing all the reports because my week would be busy arranging my stuff as we relocate to another region of the country. By evening hours, I was caught up with serious flu and headache. It was not easy on my side and I could not do anything.
I had to heat water to drink to keep my body warm but it was still not working. I was so restless and I took some oranges at home to boost my system with lots of vitamin C from the oranges. Someone told me to frequently take oranges during this season to avoid the flu. It's funny that oranges were at home and I did not take them until when I was caught up with the flu and I suddenly had to take them frequently.
Taking the oranges was a great relief for me and the hot water as well. After taking them, I felt relieved though for a while but I could feel myself better than before consuming the oranges.
While feeling better after taking the oranges, the caretaker came in for us to discuss and he was not happy we were leaving. But again, he was happy for us taking the kids to a safer place. We chatted for a while and he left.
We wanted to have a movie night with the kids but unfortunately, we experienced an unannounced blackout. This is our normal routine now signs of bad governance are everywhere in the country. We just had to grumble and find ourselves in bed waiting for the next day to be better than the previous day. Until my next diary guys, enjoy your day🥰.
