The Diary Game [20/08/2025] // Unusual Work Day from Home

in Steem Cameroonyesterday

Steem greetings, guys from the motherland of Cameroon, and welcome to another session with my lifestyle content. Some days are just undetermined and require quick action to stay focused on achieving your set goals for the day. My day started on a bad footing as my toddler son was not feeling well. I could not allow him to stay at home, and that was how my program for the day automatically changed to follow up on my sick son.

I had some medications at home, which I administered to him after trying so hard for him to eat. It was a rainy day as usual, and because of the unforeseen circumstance, I decided to work from home while taking care of my toddler son, who was not feeling well. Guys, it was a frustrating experience because he became so naughty that I had to carry him while working.

Working for hours with the baby, frequent disturbance is not for the weak. At one point, I was feeling exhausted and had to stop working to give him full time, which helped him fall asleep. I took the opportunity to walk to a nearby local market to buy some toiletries and food. I had to use an umbrella because it was raining.

Walking to the market and it was raining.

I arrived at the market, and most sellers had gone home because of the heavy rains. I met with one seller along the way, returning home with a basin of vegetables, and I asked her why returning home with unsold vegetables. She responded, disappointed by the rain, and buyers were not able to come to the market.

I tried to move around the market to buy my toileteries, but I could not because most of them were partly damaged by rain. The sellers tried to convince me to buy, but I was disappointed, and I had to seek refuge under a shelter at the local market as the intensity of the rain increased. It was windy and rainy, and I cared about my umbrella getting damaged.I had to stand by for almost 30 minutes for the windy rain to subside before I could continue buying.

The rain subsided for a while and I succeeded in buying sweet potatoes, egussi, beef, smoked fish and vegetables to prepare lunch with them. While returning home, I saw a vendor selling eggs at affordable prices, and I had to stop by to purchase some for household use. She said she usually sells before the afternoon period, but because of the rain, she will surely close by 6:00 PM, as customers will come at that hour when the rain finally gives way.

I returned home and had to quickly prepare lunch while my toddler son was awake. I had to carry him on my back using a loincloth to make him comfortable. It was not easy for me, but as an African mother, we are resilient enough to sail through such challenging moments in my life. At the end, I was able to catch up with time and prepare the food, and my baby was comfortable as well. I had to serve myself some of the food and also feed the kids. I bathed them and put them to siesta and continued with my work.

I continued working to night when I heated food, fed the kids and administered drugs to my son and called it a day. It was a tough day for me, but I was happy to have succeeded in sailing through despite the challenges. Until my next diary, I wish you all a splendid weekend ahead.
