The Diary Game [03/09/2025] // A Day in the Life of a Working Class Mother.
Steem greetings guys from the motherland of Cameroon and welcome to my blog for another session with my lifestyle content. I woke up to the familiar hum of the drizzling rain on the roof. It’s another day, and of course, there's no time to waste. I quickly got out of bed, stretched, and went to check on the kids. They were still asleep, peaceful and unaware of the chaos the day would bring. I hurriedly prepared breakfast and headed to he bathroom and was ready to face the field work of the day.

I got dressed in my bright orange top and a pair of trousers good for me while working in the field collecting data. It always makes me feel energised. It was really challenging working in the rain with little help from my attendants. But I thank God I quickly wrapped up things and was done in no time.

I left the field work and was returning home and had to pass by the market. The market was already alive by the time I arrived. The smell of fresh vegetables and the buzz of bargaining voices filled the air. I bought some green vegetables, onions, and a few spices. One of the women I always see there smiled and said, “You’re early today.” I nodded, laughing.

From the market, I rushed home and needed to do a quick transaction on Binance but it failed. I was somehow frustrated but my husband had to intervene and my issues were resolved. I rush to the barbershop with my youngest son. He was overdue for a haircut, and his school resume next week. He fidgeted in the chair as the barber gently worked the clippers through his thick hair. I stood nearby, watching him through the mirror.

Back home, I chopped vegetables to preserve in the fridge and while stirring the pot of rice on the cooker for our dinner. The kids were shouting and laughing in the background. I didn’t scold them because their noise keeps me going.
After dinner, baths, and bedtime stories, the house finally went quiet. I sat by the window, watching the gate outside. It needs painting again and my thoughts were “…there’s always something that needs fixing.” My husband smile because he was just returning from the mechanic's workshop the previous week.
I tried to follow up with some Netflix series but was exhausted already for the day. As I lie in bed, exhausted, I remind myself that “…You made it through today”. The laundry didn’t get done, but the kids are fed, safe, and asleep. That was enough for the day and I believe tomorrow is another day.
