I tried waking up but I was hit with sleep paralysis. I felt a force holding back my legs and upper body, I could feel myself struggling. Then with a shout and a quick jerk, I woke up - looking at my body first to be sure if it was reality. I stretched for my phone where I normally leave it before sleeping but couldn't seem to touch my phone. Sleep still in my eyes and in the dark room, I started searching the sides of the bed, lo the phone was on the bed; oh! I slept off again with the phone in my hands, I exclaimed.

The light from the phone flashing on my worried face, one would think I was depressed for days.
I rarely wake up midway when I sleep. I usually sleep for five hours at a stretch every night but this night was different. I woke up by 3am after I slept around 12am in the night. Was it a nightmare or just a normal dream?

My heart was disturbed on the kind of dream I just had. It made tears roll from my eyes..My mom heard me repeating the words "it will never happen, it will never happen". She snooped into my room to know what was wrong...Boy, are you okay?
Yes ma'am I replied, I just had a dream... she's never heard that from me and she was concerned about the dream but I told her in the morning. I couldn't sleep but pondered all through the night on the dream, it made me scared. In the morning, I told my parents about the dream and it goes thus;

I dreamt that there was an heavy rain and then my dad was running back from work and when he climbed a soak away pit it collapsed and he fell inside. He was stuck inside the pit and he cried out for help to us. When we came we couldn't pull him out as his legs were stuck in the metallic chambers inside the pit. We could only watch our dad crying out for help in pains. Blood gushing out from his legs. When we tried to pull him out, his legs cut off from his body and we all shouted in the dream. I have never cried before the way I cried in that dream. We shouted and cried for help but nobody came. That was when I shouted and woke up to look for my phone.

When I told my parents and siblings about this dream, they all shouted 'God forbid'. This was a Saturday morning. Now we had a soak away pit at the back of our compound, so we all started avoiding it. I told everybody not to climb it at any point. We prayed about it too as a family and rebuked evil from happening (we are all Christians in my family).
We avoided the soak away pit the whole day. Saturday/Sunday night it rained but not as heavy as it was in the dream. We all slept sound and it was a wonderful night. In the morning we woke up to prepare for church. Took our bath and as I was about dressing, I heard my dad calling me. With a shaking voice, he told me that as he was walking to the backyard, the soak away fell right in front of him, like right in front of him. He looked at me with shock, and I couldn't believe him. I went to the backyard to see the exact same thing I saw in my dream. But this time around without my dad in it. This time around we all watched with no human casualty.

The dream stayed in my head for days, it kept reoccurring and all I did ask myself was why did I see the same thing in my dream...was this meant to happen to my dad?
Would my dad have climbed the soak away pit if I didn't have the dream?
This thoughts went on for weeks in my head and gave me another perspective about dreams.

Could dreams be another realm that connects with the physical realm?

This event made me scared, confused and I was really deep in thoughts throughout that year.

This is a real story about myself and it happened in 2023. I still remember the details of that dream till date.

Thanks for reading my story.

I invite @davidmarkgeorge and @imohmitch to participate in this contest.
