Wellness - A Vital Foundation Of Success

A lot of people define success by achievements, status, and even possessions, but they tend to forget the foundation of success - wellness. Tell me, if someone has achieved some really great possessions but they do not have the physical and mental well-being to enjoy the achievement, will it still be counted for them as success? Without physical health, mental well-being, emotional clarity, etc, someone's goal can come crashing before them. Moreover, wellness should not be considered as a luxury but a vital necessity because it can influence other aspects of the individual.

A few days back, a friend of mine was telling me about a very rich and influential man in their village. In the past, he was among the king-makers and he had so much influence in the affairs of the village. He amassed so much wealth that he was even given a traditional title which is translated in English to mean "the money that lasts." This is to show how rich he is and the level of his possession. However, in this present time, his health has so much been challenged. He started by losing his emotional clarity, then he started from one health challenge to another. Now, he is on liquid-only diet, and cannot eat anything solid even with all his wealth.

Someone who has fleets of cars and was driven in choicest cars, now he is being helped in a wheelchair by his car-giver. Someone who could eat from 5-star restaurants across the world, now depends on liquid to survive. In one of his words, he now realized that even though possessions are good, riches are needed, wealth is good, but good health is a vital necessity and requirement for success. You may not know how blessed you have been until maybe you have a slight headache, then you will appreciate the value of good health. There are things that you can naturally achieve if you are physically, mentally, and emotionally well.

In order to improve on your wellness, there are things that you need to bear in mind. Firstly, as it relates to the body, you need to take care of your physical health. This includes eating properly. What you eat can go a long way to influence the health of your body, so eat rightly. You do not have to break a bank to eat well, even with your budget, you can have a balanced meal that will deliver the required nutrients to the body. You also need to know the right time to eat. Asides eating rightly, you also need to take rest seriously. After a while of working and being active, you need to give your body some time to recharge and rest. All these are part of what keep one healthy.

In addition to this, you also need to take timely and regular medical checkups. You do not just visit the medical professional only when you have noticed that your body has broken down, but you need to take timely checkup. When you start to feel a symptom, you should not self-medicate, but you need to see an expert. This is because a lot of sickness can present with the same or near similar symptoms which you may not be aware of. But when you visit a medical or health professional, you will get early diagnosis and treatment.

When it comes to mental wellness, it is also as important as the bodily health. You have to take care of your mind, control your thoughts, clear your mind off worries and anxiety. Do not beat yourself over while worrying over what you cannot even change. Then practise thoughtfulness and mindfulness. Do not give room for negative imaginations and thoughts. You can also talk to a therapist or someone you can trust when you are almost cracking under the weight of your mind, so as to avoid going into depression and other psychological instabilities.

Finally, you also need to be conscious about your relationships and other social interests you have. Trust me, your health can be influenced by the people around you. Take for instance; when you stay in the company of people with harmful bad habits, you might get influenced to join them, and when it happens, it will harm your body negatively. Try to be in the company of those whose lifestyle will motivate you to take care of your total wellbeing. Remember that success is not just a result of solo efforts but can also come by the efforts of others.

I usually tell people that success goes beyond juts wishing it..you need to be so intentional about it and everything you are actually doing because it can go a long way to determine whether you will have access to success or not
