Seeing Your World Before It Exists: The Power Of Your Vision
Before you achieve something, you have to first imagine it with the eyes of the mind - this is vision. If you cannot see it with your mind, then you cannot seize it with your hands. A lot of the great achievements you see today in the world around you began with small invisible ideas from the mind of the individual. The power of vision is your ability to see with the mind what your eyes have not seen yet. That is, picturing your future from the mind. You have to see things from the mind before you see them with the eyes. Which means that the future you want to create begins from the mind.
The vision of your mind is like a mental blueprint that gives you a clear insight of what you want to achieve. Before a builder or a civil engineer builds a house, the architect will have to create and draw the plan first. In life, the mind is like the drawing board where your ideas are created. If you want to be successful, you have to envision the life you want with the eye of the mind, so that it will give you a sense of purpose and the direction to go about it. If you do not have a sense of purpose or something to direct you, you may just be merely existing but not actually living the life you should. You have to learn to live the future you want even before it arrives.
I once read about the story of Walt Disney; who is the brain behind some massive entertainment industry for both adults and children, and even owns, 20th Century Studios, a host of TV Networks, ESPN, NatGeo, Disneyland, Marvel, etc. Some of these were through part-acquisition, some through outright ownership. However, what thrilled me about him was the fact that he was a man of vision; he already saw Disneyland in his mind even before it began. Reports has it that, he would move around the empty land and visualise how Disneyland would look like and even told people about the details of the scenery in it. Some people even laughed at him and called it wild dream, but he kept at it. Now, his idea and his vision of yesteryears has become a global legacy. He created his future from his mind.
One of the powerful things that gives you direction in life is vision. Without vision, people would just be drifting through life and would just be reactive to situations instead of being proactive. When there is an idea and there is a Will, you will be surprised how there will be a way to bring it to actualization. Everyone has their own individual goal, vision, idea and aspiration. Your own may not be like Walt Disney, but you still have your own purpose. You have to look inwards to discover your own; create the kind of future you want to see from your mind. You are absolutely responsible for your tomorrow, so create it today.
It is your vision that serves as your guide, your strength when things get tough, and your motivator. There are times when things may not be going the way you desire, but it is vision that will remind you that where you are is not your final destination. Nothing reminds you of where you are going to and the need to keep putting in efforts like vision. Vision keeps both your dreams and hopes alive. When you know where you are going to, you will not be swayed by what is happening around you.
Your vision also serves as a source of fuel for innovation and creativity. When you want to do something and there is a driving force moving you to do it, you will discover that there are ways to do it - you will become creative and innovative. I once read about Steve Jobs and his idea of making computing devices popular and affordable, even before Apple Inc. He said that when computers were expensive, massive, and were only used by professionals. However, he saw what others did not see, and that was what led him to co-founding the company, which paved way and led a revolution of how the world of communication works. When there is vision, there will always be way to actualize it.
