Moving From Pain To Gain

in Project HOPE10 days ago

When I used to visit a particular gym where I used to stay before, there was an inscription at the entrance of the gym facility which stays "there is gain in every pain." Even while training and exercising, the gym instructor would always remind you this: "feel the pain today and get the gain tomorrow." This means that there are things that you may want to achieve but the journey towards it may not be palatable. It is by enduring the process of the journey that you will arrive at the destination. Whenever it looks like you are passing through the challenging point of life, you have to keep your mind on the gain that you will get from it.

Challenges of life, which can be called pain, is inevitable, but you are the one that will determine how you respond to it. Everyone may have felt pain at some points in their life, but the choice still remained within them to either learn and grow from it or if they will be stuck at it. There are some level of pains that can become the birthplace of your biggest gains in life. For example, when a woman goes through the pain of labour, it is so that she will give birth to her child. That is, pain, more often than not, is not a punishment, but part of what life uses to make one better and also bring them to their desired breakthroughs.

If you have ever seen a raw gold that was just mined from the ground, chances are that you may not even know that it is gold, and you may not know its worth. This is because it will be covered in layers of impurities. It will have to be passed through very high temperatures and insane heating, so as to purify it. The fire is not to damage the gold but will make it appear shiny and better. In the same way in life, the pains you go through are to refine you and make you a better version of yourself, not to punish you. So you should see challenges as something positive, which should add positively to you.

A lot of the most successful people that you know did not have it very easy as some people might think. Some of them passed through some intense life's situation and a lot of challenges, but they chose to keep going. They used their pains for their advantage to become better. Even when they were presented with situations that looked like stumbling-block, they quickly used it as stepping-stones. What I have learnt in life is that it is not what comes to you that determines what becomes of you, but what you make of what comes to you. The same challenge that cracks one person is the same challenge that someone else rides on to achieve success. It is a matter of choice.

Challenges (or pains in this context), are like the examinations of life. You will agree with me that without writing exams and passing them, you may not be able to gain access to the next class. The exam may not be convenient and may even be brutally hard, but it is a requirement that has to be fulfilled. Avoiding the exam will also amount to forfeiting the next class. In the same way in life, challenges are like the necessary exams that you need to face and pass. When things do not work the way you intended, or when you are met with some challenges, you have to face them with the mind to conquer them and overcome. If you do not welcome and face the pain, how do you want to gain from it?

There are times that some certain occurrences or happenings may prompt something within you to ask yourself "why me?" However, the right question to ask, which will also help you to see it positively, is to ask yourself about the things you can gain from what happened. You also need to understand that whatever you are passing through is not uniquely crafted for you. A lot of others have experienced similar or even worse challenges, and they overcame. Face your pain with open mind, learn from it , and turn it to your gain.
