A Daily Decision To Choose Optimism
I once heard from someone that optimism is not a congenital trait. Rather it is a choice that you have to make and do so daily. This also means that anyone can choose to be optimistic if they want to. Optimism, simply put, is the expectation of a favourable outcome in everything that happens. Or a tendency to hope for the best even when faced with challenges. Life will often present challenges to you, but much more than that, it will also present opportunities your way. How you choose to interpret it will determine the outcome of your life - if you will interpret it as challenges or opportunities. The result of your life is just minorly a product of what happens to you, but majorly a product of how you choose to interpret it.

Just to let you know; choosing to be optimistic does not mean being beclouded from the reality or thinking everything is perfect, but it means choosing to focus on the good side and expecting positive results from life. There was a friend of mine who I learnt a couple of things from and it has helped me in life. Whatever that happens to him, you will not see him complain, rather he will tell you that it is an experience and that there will always be something to learn from it. This normally makes him to focus on the good and positive side of life and then channel his energy on what is gainful.
It is true that life can be unpredictable, but the energy at which you can use to predict negativity should be channelled on positive thoughts, so as to influence you towards positive actions. Each morning that you wake up, you have to make a choice to decide how you will approach the day. That is, will you look forward to good things, will you dwell on past mistakes, will you worry over what could go wrong, will you look at the infinite possibilities in life, etc? Choices abound. It is worthy to note that it is the choices you make, especially the daily choices, that make you who you are. You have a freewill of choices to make, but you will also be met with the effects of the choices.
Optimism is not a call for naivety or to be cut off from reality, but it is a call for hopefulness. It is having the mind to face difficult challenges and tell them that you are stronger than them and that they will pass. In a world where a lot of negative news are flying around, optimism will remain a very powerful and potent tool to stay afloat even in the face of negativities. When you are optimistic, you will not give up easily but you will rather choose to keep going even when standing becomes very difficult. Your daily choice to remain hopeful will improve your mental health, build you up, and even increases your chances of achieving success.

If you stay around the people who are optimistic, you will also pick up that trait and you will become optimistic. In the same way, if you are optimistic, you can also influence the people around you to become optimistic. But the opposite happens when you stay around pessimistic people or when you are pessimistic yourself. When you choose to stay positive in life, you become an instrument of motivation to inspire others to also stay positive. This will make people to get drawn and attracted to you.
Just to let you know, being optimistic does not mean that you will not feel sad at some point, and it does not also mean that you will not be hit by the challenges of life, but instead of being stuck at them, being optimistic will make you to develop enough strength to pass them. That it, it makes you to feel that the pain that you are passing through is part of the process and not the end of the road.
In order to grow in optimism, you have to constantly feed your mind with positive contents - like reading uplifting things, watching positive things, thinking wholesome and positive thoughts. Then you have to stay in the company of the people who will also encourage you. Finally, practice continuous gratitude and thankfulness.
