I searched google and found that today is purple day. I had never heard of it before anywhere. So, I was curious about it. When I searched in google, I found that this day is being observed everyday. There is a dedicated website https://purpleday.org related to this day and its objectives. That is very nice. This day was founded by Cassidy Megan in 2008 about educating people about epilepsy. She had a great struggle with this disorder. Millions of people are affected worldwide because of this neurological disorder. So, it is a great innitiative by her to make the world aware about it.
We know that epilepsy is a neurological disorder pertaining to the central nervous system, i.e. brain. In this disorder affected patients have frequent tendency to have seizures. These seizures can make the affected people's life miserable and they are also prone to life threatning condition. For example, someone may have seizures while crossing the road which may result in hit by vehicles or someone may have seizures while working in a hazardous condition leading to create a dangerous situation for the patients as well as others.
There are many superstitious beliefs associated with this disorder. Some people do the worng things to cure the patient that may endanger the life of the patient. Luckily the modern medical science can help such pateints by providing them an effective treatment.
I searched the internet and found a few ways to deal with the situation when a person nearby you have seizures or convulsions. You can apply following to control the situation when any person nearby you have seizures.
First of all stay calm and don't panic.
Do not try to restrain their movement.
Do not offer food or drink to the affected person until he/she is fully conscious.
Never put anything in the person’s mouth.
Turn the person on one side to prevent saliva to enter the lungs of the person.
Remove nearby sharp and pointed objects like knife, nails etc. and keep them away from the epileptic person.
Stay with the person until they become fully conscious.
