Centralized Social Media Platforms
A centralized social media platform is basically a social media platform that is owned and controlled by a central or singular entity. A big example of centralized social media platforms are Twitter which is a social media platform for posting short posts known as tweets. Another centralized social media platform is Facebook… Facebook is another social media platform that was created to help friends and families connect with each other anywhere in the world. At the moment, there are a number of centralized social media platforms, each having their own features and what sets them apart from the rest.
Decentralized Social Media Platforms
Decentralized social media platform is basically the opposite of centralized social media in the sense that there is no central entity or authority that makes decisions on the platform instead the decisions are made by the users of the platform. Steemit is a very good example of decentralized social media platform that runs on the blockchain. On steemit, the users decide what happens on the steem blockchain and platform and there is no central entity that controls user data and information.

Which One is The Future of Social media?
For me, I think decentralized social media is the future of social media because more and more people are complaining about how centralized social media platforms are selling user information and data to third parties for targeted adverts. This has become a problem for users of these platforms because it means that users don’t have privacy on these platforms anymore. With decentralized social media platforms, users can have freedom to create contents without fear of accounts or content being deleted.
