The False Allegations
I was sitting on the veranda of my later grandmother as I was watching my neighbour's children playing around and chasing themselves around in the big compound. Of course, the sound of laughter from those kids was flowing all through the compound. There I was, peeling the orange I was about to have a taste of, with the aroma of the orange entering through my nostrils as I heard the aroma coming from Mama Bola from the street close to our house.
"Ade!" I hear the voice of my cousin calling on me. Looking behind, I saw him coming towards my direction breathing heavily.
"Ade, you will not believe what I just heard right now," he told me.
"What do you hear, Tope?" I was curious to know because whenever Tope comes to deliver that sense of message, then there must be some sort of suspense in it.
"Ade, I was told by Temi that you told Miss Kike about the issue of her skipping school."
My orange that I was peeling almost fell off because I was totally surprised. "Why will I say that? That's a load of balderdash" I responded.
Tope looking unconvinced. "Ade, I didn't know, but she has been telling people around"
I suddenly became angry. I knew TEMI because she happens to be one of the most popular and well-known girls in my school. I knew if she successfully ganged up against me, I would be done for in that school.
"Tope, I will confront her to talk to her" I responded to Tope.
Tope asked, "Hope you are sure?"
"Of course, Yes" Instantly, I dropped the orange I was peeling and rushed out to confront her and her group. Luckily I saw them under a mango tree with TEMI standing in the middle of them.
"TEMI, I was told that you are telling people I am snitching on you. Who told you that and how come you believe that lie?" I asked TEMI
TEMI, shocked by my boldness and confidence in what I said, responded. "Well, Ade, Miss Kike told me that someone told her that I was skipping school.
"I shouted back to her without not allowing her to land. Who else knew?"
"Ade, I didn't know, and I can't answer all these questions you are asking me. Probably someone saw you."
"TEMI, I just want you to know that it wasn't me"
"I didn't believe you, Ade; you are snitching on me. Prove it." TEMI responded.
In the midst of our discussion, one of her fellow friends came forward.
"Temi, it was me", she said quietly with her voice shivering.
"Miss Kike saw me when I was sneaking back to class after I had skipped class, so I had no option because I was pressured by her, so I told her about TEMI," she further confessed.
TEMI was shocked. "So you are the one" pointing to the girl.
"TEMI, I am sorry, I didn't mean to. I was just pressured, and I can say Ade is actually; she didn't say anything." The girl said.
"Ade, I was sorry, I guessed I was wrong. TEMI apologize to me.
"Well, it's nothing, but next time, Temi, try to confirm something before making allegations. I responded and walked out of her.
Hmmm, confrontations are good most of the time, imagine you had kept quiet about the entire situation, it wouldn't have ended well for you.
