My Book Review: No Excuses! The Power of Self-Discipline by Brian Tracy

One of the things that I have come to discover affecting a whole lot of people is that they lack the consistency and commitment to do that which needs their goals to be achieved. This also includes myself as there are several times I have set goals to achieve but sometimes I lack the discipline to keep them going. In fact I can even start sometimes but I will give up along the journey.

I can vividly say that I am not the only one in this shoe. I picked up this particular book no excuse! The power of self discipline and I must confess it opened my eyes to a whole lot of realities that I was not seeing before. One of the things I was able to realise after reading this book is the fact that everyone is responding for your life and at the end of your life, you have no excuse for what you become.

Of course one of my tradition before picking any book is to do a brief study about the author of that book. Same thing I did before reading this book. After been done with my research, I disvutjay Brian Tracy is a well known success coach all over the world. He structure the book very well in a way whereby every chapter of that book addressed a major point that determine the success of failure of an individual.

One of the things that I was able to pick while reading this book is the fact that no matter how well you wish for a success, it still point down to now disciplined you are. The more you practice discipline in different sphere of life, the more it helps to shape your life and destiny around. And this is an eye opener for me most especially as a Nigerian. Most of the time, we always tag some success as luck or God Appointed time. But this was an eye opener that success is not only by luck.

There was this particular statement that I found heart touching while reading that book and that is "Success is not accidental and Failure is not accidental" External forces like commitment, self discipline, right mindset goes a long way to determine our fate. It also challenges me that I should rise from my comfort zone. The fact that it opens my eyes to see that there is no one that dwell in the comfort zone and achieve success.

One of the things why I really love the book is it cut across every aspect of life that you can talked about. I mean all the chapters talked about finances, health, character, marriage and many more. If there is something I pick from the chapters that talk about finances, it is the fact that never wait for the perfect opportunity, start creating them. And this is something as a Nigerian youth I can vividly relate. I don't need to wait for the perfect time, I should start creating the perfect time. This has allowed me to start learning some online skills even if I did not have much.

For me personally, I will say the book have practical applications most especially in Nigeria. The issue affecting a lot of us is we wait till when we are ever ready to start doing something's we should do. Not only that, it changes my mindset to believe that there is no luck anyone. You should pay the effort for success. Do what people that are successful and you will achieve success and if you do what people that fail do, you might end up a failure.

I was able to also learn the power of time management which I believe is actually necessary. Time management is key. We always complain that 24 hours is not enough but that is true. 24 hours is more than enough to do that which you need to do in a day if only you make wise use of it. I was also been able to learn the power of health discipline. It is not enough to just wish to have a good health, I should also be able to play my role in been careful of what I eat, drink and how I managed my body. This is what we determine whether I will live in good health or not.

I can keep mentioning more and more of what I learnt in that book but I must confess that the book is fully loaded. I will encourage everyone to read the book. It is an eye opener I must confess. The book really did beyond my expectations. The fact that the book was structured in a way whereby it cut across every aspect of life is what I am happy about. After reading this book, I begin to cut away with some bad habits in my life and it has helped me to start building positive habits in my life.
