Are You Drinking Too Much Water? The Danger of Overhydration
I grew up understanding the fact that anything that gave advantages will definitely have disadvantages most especially when it is abused or used in essence. Even though that is very true but there is actually something that I realise people fail to mention that have side effect and that is water. Growing up, I always hear about the education around the importance of water, how it is very good for the body and how it can help our health. So much was actually talked about when it comes to water.
In fact our world is not complete without water. Water is very important to living and even medically it is always recommended that we should always take in plenty of water every single time. But the truth is in as much as water can be good, it also gave it's own side effects. What I mean is it can be harmful most especially when it is too much in the body system which medically is called Overhydration.
Many of us are only familiar with dehydration which is when our body system lacks the necessary water to keep going. But there is also something called Overhydration and this majorly talk about when there is excess water in our body system than it should be. Our kidney is the organ that helps to remove fluid in our body system that is in excess. But when we usually consume a high level of water, we are giving our kidneys to stress out the organ.
Generally, there might be a lot of things that might cause Overhydration in the body of an individual. Some it can be diet that you eat and sometimes it can even be because of exercise. Most of the time, Overhydration is common among athletes most especially those who engage in marathon races. This can eventually have side effects like kidney problems, heart issues because it will get to a point, the body will not be able to handle the fluid in the body system.
Overhydration unlike dehydration might not have the same symptoms. We all know that got dehydration, one of the symptoms is that you will be feeling thirsty but for Overhydration, some possible symptoms might range from headache, fatigue, constant vomiting and you might be noticing some swearing around your body most especially your hand and feet. When you start noticing this symptom, that is when you should pay attention to your water consumption.
This is where the balance comes in. You need water in your body but always have this consciousness that when there is too much of water in your body, it have health effects and when there is less water level in your body, it can also have side effects. Everyone have different body chemistry and so I will just recommend that you should try to pay attention to your body symptoms. When your body needs water, give it and when it seems too much, reduce it. I think that's the best way to manage the balance level of hydration in your body system.
