More than a video game Space Engine is a simulator of the universe, it has been developed by the Russian astronomer and programmer Vladimir Romanic and you can tell that it has been created by an astronomer because it is quite realistic and the concept, although it is not a video game as such, is amazing.

You have the entire universe at your disposal to travel through it as you wish, you can go as fast as you want and see whatever you want, for example, you can select any Random star, fly over the planets that it has orbiting around it, then land on the surface of Saturn, after a while travel to another galaxy thousands of light years away along the way, have a little fun observing a nebula that you thought was pretty, well, you get the idea.

It contains thousands of real astronomical objects modeled quite faithfully to the originals and the parts of the universe that we have not yet discovered what they are like are generated procedurally, that is, making a random but quite sensible estimate of what they could be like.
