For the first time the quantum computer surpasses supercomputers.

North American researchers have just obtained proof that a quantum computer can surpass the most powerful traditional supercomputers in solving important tasks, marking a new phase in the history of computing and the most incredible thing is that this did not happen in a simple laboratory test, it was a concrete and significant victory in a type of problem called “approximate optimization”, which has practical applications in several real-life areas such as finance, logistics and artificial intelligence.

This great achievement came from a specific technique called Quantum anil, simplifying this method using principles of quantum physics to search for optimal or near-optimal solutions to highly complex problems, the kind that ordinary computers take forever to solve.

How this works in practice, quantum tempering explores low energy states in quantum systems that correspond precisely to the best possible solutions, it does not need to be perfect, many times an almost optimal solution already solves our problem, especially in real cases, for example, to invest in stocks you do not need to get exactly the best ones every time, it is enough to beat the market average.

To achieve this historic feat the researchers used the D-Ware Advantage processor, a special type of quantum computer designed exactly for this type of task, but like any quantum system the big challenge here is to deal with the noise that affects the precision and could destroy the advantage over traditional computers, that is where another essential innovation comes in, the technique called quantum time correction.

This method significantly reduces errors by creating more than 1300 logical cubits with protection against failures. It was thanks to this innovation that the DW Ware computer managed to surpass the best classical algorithm known to date, the so-called PTICM, opening a very important precedent for the computing of the future.

The study led by the University of Southern California proved that using the QAC the quantum computer managed to quickly solve problems that challenge traditional supercomputers and most interestingly, the researchers were not looking for perfect solutions but good enough ones at least within 1% of the optimal solution. In this type of task the quantum system showed a clear and unprecedented advantage over conventional machines.

These results are very encouraging because they show that for many real-world situations where we do not need absolute perfection, quantum computers are already superior and from now on this advance can greatly accelerate the adoption of quantum computing in industry. It seems very theoretical, but in reality this quantum achievement can directly affect our lives in the near future.

With computers capable of solving optimization problems much faster, several areas will benefit immediately such as financial management, investment analysis, logistics planning or even the development of more effective medications. Imagine companies being able to optimize their operations in minutes, something that would take days or weeks with traditional supercomputers.

This efficiency can generate savings of billions in sectors such as transportation, energy and health, this historic test in the United States is not only a technical milestone, it opens a new era in which quantum computers stop being distant promises and begin to really change things in practice.

From now on the challenge is to further extend this advantage and improve the hardware, reduce errors and bring other benefits closer to our daily reality.
