Pakistan won World Team Snooker Championship in Hurghada, Egypt on Thursday, International Billiards & Snooker Federation reported.

Final match of the tournament was played between two Pakistani teams. Pakistan-2 won against Pakistan-1 by 5-4 frames.

IBSF world championship: ‘Pakistan team looks promising’

The winning team having former World Champion Muhammad Asif and current World No 4 World 6 Reds Babar Masih edged out Pakistan-1 of Muhammad Sajjad and Asjad Iqbal.

Team Pakistan-2 gave a good start and capitalised first two frames but after that in doubles Sajjad and Asjad made 60 points break and won the frame.

The match swung both way in subsequent frames as both the teams entered in the deciding frame.

Though Pakistan-1 had a good start but Pakistan-2 countered well and curtailed them to 28 points to go ahead and clear the table scoring 70-28 to claim title.

It is the first time in Team Snooker category that two teams of the same country has played the final.
