PLAGIARISM:
DEFINITION:
The act of using someone else words, ideas or work and presenting them as your own without giving them proper credit is known as plagiarism.
EXPLANATION:
Plagiarism can happen in several ways for example writing, academic work, art, music or even business. Plagiarism in writing means that you have copied someone else work without their permission. Students and researchers must site sources when they are using other's ideas otherwise it would be considered as plagiarism. Artists must create original work or give credit when they are inspired by someone else otherwise it would be considered as plagiarism. Musicians can also commit plagiarism by copying others lyrics, beats or ideas. Businesses can also commit plagiarism by copying someone's else marketing materials, logos or themes.
EXAMPLE
Now let me explain the plagiarism to you with the help of an example. Let's suppose you are an Instagram blogger and you received a PR which is about the kitchen essentials and now you have to make a video to represent them. You have put your efforts in making of a video and editing that video and after all the efforts you have finally post in on your public Instagram account but someone have stole your content without taking your permission and giving you credit and representing like it's their own video. But here is also one thing to note that when someone use your content by taking your permission and they are not giving you credit the this called plagiarism. The creator have the right to take action against such people.
TYPES OF PLAGIARISM
There are many types of plagiarism but I will explain only 7 types of plagiarism which are as follows:
- AI-Generated Plagiarism
- Image and Multimedia Plagiarism
- Direct Plagiarism
- Self Plagiarism
- Mosaic Plagiarism or Patchwriting Plagiarism
- Unintentional Plagiarism
- Source-based Plagiarism
Now I will explain all these types one by one so that you all can understand it easily.
1. AI-Generated Plagiarism:
This occurs when someone creates content using AI tools and submits it as their own without giving due credit and not making necessary edits. For example, the student uses ChatGPT to write an essay and submits it without making necessary changes and citing AI as a source.
2. Image and Multimedia Plagiarism:
This occurs when someone uses pictures, videos or other multimedia component without permission or giving credit. For example, A Youtuber uses a video clip in their content without permission.
3. Direct Plagiarism:
This occurs when someone's else work is copied word to word without giving proper credit. For example, a student copies paragraph from a research paper and submits it as their own work.
4. Self Plagiarism:
Using your own previously submitted or published work again without proper recognition is known as self plagiarism. For example, A student submits the same assignment for two different classes without telling the professor.
5. Mosaic Plagiarism or Patchwriting Plagiarism:
Mosaic plagiarism is also known as patchwriting plagiarism. It occurs when someone takes phrases from different sources, slightly changes the words while maintaining the original meaning and structure without providing credit. For example, A writer copies sentences from different articles, changes a few words and presents it as a new content.
6. Unintentional Plagiarism:
This occurs when someone unknowingly uses someone's else ideas as their own and fails to properly credit sources. For example, A student forgets to add quotation marks around a direct quote.
7. Source-Based Plagiarism:
This occurs when sources are not cited properly. For example, A student cite a source to support their argument that doesn't exists.

What are Citations?
A citation is a way to give credit to the original information that you use in your work. It also helps in avoiding plagiarism and also readers to verify the sources.
Example:
The example of citations are:
