Contest Alert: Crop or Livestock Farming? What's your choice?
Hello everyone, I hope we are always in good health. On this occasion I want to participate in a contest held by @lhorgic about Contest Alert⚠️: My Worst Experience as a Farmer. On this occasion I want to invite my friends @tammanna @paholags and @rosselena to participate in this contest. Here is my entry
My Worst Experience as a Farmer and Lessons Learned
As a farmer, I have experienced many challenges. However, my worst experience was when my entire rice harvest was damaged by a sudden flood. At that time, I had spent months working in the fields, caring for the plants with full hope. But in just one night, the flood swept away everything. I lost my capital, my harvest, and my spirit. It was the hardest blow I have ever experienced as a farmer.
At first I felt hopeless. I even thought about quitting farming and looking for another job in the city. However, I realized that farming is not just a job for me. This is a family legacy and part of my identity. I then tried to rise by seeking help from farmer groups and visiting the local agricultural office. They gave me new seeds and free fertilizer as a form of support. I also started learning farming techniques that are more resilient to extreme weather, such as using a good drainage system and choosing water-resistant rice varieties.
In addition, I started building networks with fellow farmers. We formed farmer groups that shared weather information, farming tips, and even helped each other during the harvest season. From there I learned that being a farmer cannot be done alone. We need cooperation and solidarity.
For farmers who want to be in this field for a sustainable time, my advice is: never stagnate learning. Agriculture is a constantly evolving world. There come newer technologies, improved techniques of sowing and safer ways of tackling pests. Second, develop your social. Farmers are the most important class of people, you could say fellow farmers are a farm asset in a way Overall, you will need to mentally prepare. You will fail, but failure is the best teacher behind those failure. And Finally, fall in love with this JOB.
Farming is not easy, but hopefully with passion, sweat and the help of one another, we will carry on surviving and feeding the world

¡Saludos amigo!🤗
gracias 😊
