Papaya is a popular and profitable crop in Bangladesh. It can be eaten in many ways. Papaya can be eaten raw as a vegetable and when ripe, it can be eaten as a fruit and juice. I have some experience about papaya plantation beceause my father always plats papaya trees beside our village house. I am going to share my experience with my steemian friends.

Papaya bears fruit for 12 months. So it is a type of perennial fruit. The land selected for papaya cultivation should be free from waterlogging and have irrigation facilities. In addition to large-scale cultivation, papaya trees can also be planted in small areas around the house. Since it is slender and tall, it does not require much space.

Before planting papaya seedlings, the soil should be prepared well. One and a half to two month old papaya seedlings should be planted in the ground. Before planting the seedlings, the soil in the hole should be mixed well by turning it upside down. The soil should be mixed well with cow dung fertilizer so that no insects can get into it.Insects are bad for the seedlings of any tree. That's why many people use tea bags. If you use tea bags at the base of the tree, insects won't get on the tree.Apply 500 grams of urea fertilizer at the base of each tree. When the tree has new leaves, apply 50 grams of urea fertilizer every month. When the tree has flowers, double the amount.

The best time to sow seeds and transplant seedlings to achieve success in papaya cultivation is during the months of Ashwin and Paush. However, you can plant it at any time throughout the year. The land for papaya cultivation should always be kept free of weeds. During the rainy season, the soil often moves away from the base of the plant. Therefore, special attention should be paid to this.If there is a possibility of the tree breaking, it should be tied with bamboo poles.

If papaya is used as a vegetable, it should be harvested when the fruit pulp becomes light and watery. It should be harvested as a fruit when a light yellow color appears on the fruit.

There are many types of diseases that affect papaya trees. One of the symptoms is that the leaves of the tree turn yellow. These yellow leaves must be cut off. Otherwise, the disease will spread.

The benefits of papaya-

  • Papaya reduces excess cholesterol in the blood, thereby reducing the risk of heart disease.
  • Helps prevent cancer.
  • Helps maintain youth.
  • Increases immunity.

Thanks to my dear steemian friends who read my post.
