Before I proceed with the contest hints and questions I will like us to look into the meaning and explanations of who a farmers.
A farmer is an individual who engaged in agricultural activities such as fertilizing, harvesting plants, feeding and herding different groups of animals and also producing food and other essential crops for commercial or subsistence purpose.

Further more vocabulary.com defines and explain it as a person who runs and works on a farm. Some farmers raise a variety of food crops, while others keep dairy cows and sell their milk. Farmers work in some aspect of agriculture, growing vegetables, grains, or fruit; or raising animals for milk, eggs, or meatsource

Tell us about the farmers in your country? Tell about their economic status? How do the people of other professions of your country see the farmers?

Of course I will say that the farmers in my country are really playing a vital and important role by providing food for millions of people in my country but just like the organizer said that that farmers do not get fair rights from the society or the state which is nothing but the truth.
The farmers in my are not well appreciated for their hard work Instead most of them are been underrated neglected by other professions and the governments as well.
Farmers in Nigeria are not used to monocropping system which is a common practice in many developed countries in the world rather they emphasis on mixed cropping/farming system which is common in my country and African as a whole However.
Farming is indeed a good and benefiting profession only if you know what you are doing, Because it gives us the chances and opportunity of providing food for the people and making the world a happier place to live, it as well has a high rate of occupational sectors e.g in my country Nigerian more than 50% of the country population earns their living through farming & agriculture that is to say farming provides jobs to a greater percentage of people in my country and as well contributes greatly to support and growth of my country national income.

Are the farmers neglected in your country ? Are they getting their fair rights from the society or the state of your country ?

Of course yes the farmers in my country are highly neglected despite their efforts and hard work of providing food for millions of people still yet there see their effort as common forgetting the fact that without farmers, there would be shortage of food leading to hunger, malnutrition, and food insecurity, Farmers are also vital and important at ensuring food safety, quality and they also helps preserve genetic diversity and local heritage, contributing to overall agricultural biodiversity , at the process of doing all this they still face some challenges and threat's such as uncertain climatic conditions (droughts, flooding, hail, severe frost) and the occurrence of disasters such as veld fires and the outbreak of plant.

What kind of steps can be taken to get back the fair rights of the farmers of your country?

There are different measures that can be taken to bring back the fair right of farmers in my country which is

  • The government, non-governmental farmers, and other relevant stakeholders can solve low agricultural productivity in my country Nigeria if they improve fertiliser use, conduct regular soil fertility tests, and connect extension agents with research institutions.
  • Also Getting a better price that is by negotiating a better price isn't easy for a farmer who works independently on a smallholding at least this will help motivate them to do more.
  • By Carrying out extensive research into farm production in order to increase farm produce and introducing modern farming techniques to them because most farmers in my country depends on crude implements instead of modern techniques for farming.
  • Farmers should be assisted by the government to control diseases and fight pests because this is among the major problems farmers are facing in my country.
  • The provision of infrastructural facilities in the rural areas to stem rural –urban migration so as to retain labour for agricultural purposes and also enable the farmers move their goods easily to the markets.
  • Another way the government can help get back the fair rights of the farmers of your country is by making available research and institution that will help educate the farmers because illiteracy is the number one reason why most farmers are not given fair right.

I have have come to the end point of this amazing contest, Let's me start by appreciating the leadership of this community for the privilege given to us to share our different views and perspectives concerning this contest, and also to the organizer for publishing such and amazing and educating contest.

I will respectfully call on the attention of my fellow steemians colleagues @jasminemary @solperez @emishael60 to take part in this contest thanks.
