The diary game ||29-03-2025|| A Busy Long Day on the Farm with nature rewards.
Farm,Farming, Farmland. My day was full of these three words. It was a day so busy that I strongly believed life on the farm is different than life at the office or home. It was a busy day but an amazing day, and still, we were in the morning when we began the farm work. I woke up with my family determined to do the manual labor. We set out to work on our farmland and plant cassava and protect the new maize planting.Maize was already on its feet, and to see those shiny new green shoots was what encouraged us even more to roll up our sleeves and continue working.

We came to the farm at very early hour, the sun was shining upon the ground. The first task that I needed to do was clear the land. I needed to weed. It wasn't a pleasant job—some of the weeds were very resistant to moving from where they were, but I was glad to be clearing the ground neat and clean for planting. The ground is now so neat. My family members were also busy with their task that includes digging the land. The second task was cassava stem cutting and planting.

It was a sensitive exercise: three stem per hole for the small ones, and two for the large ones so that they have an equal opportunity to grow. We worked in unison together, smiling and laughing every moment. There is this joy that I felt in planting crops, teamwork really makes work light when physically demanding too. Just when we were okay and in work flow, something amazing happened.

My brother shouted and we all looked up to see him running with an armload of oyster mushrooms. I couldn't help but grin. These mushrooms are not found in the market as often as they supposed to be. But on the farm, they're little secrets and treasures of nature. I remembered the last one when we had managed to pick some and fry them—it was so sweet and delicious.
The Hope of eating fried oyster mushrooms again made me smile. For the excitement of the mushrooms, we work more faster to reach the house before dawn. I continued tilling the ground, making sure each hole was prepared for planting. The sun was hotter in the sky but not blinding. We worked, our hands were so dirty. There were times of quiet when all of us focused, but there were also outbursts of laughing and talking that made the work a pleasant one.
Afternoon brought us to the planting of the last cassava stems. I kept watching over the farm, a feeling of pride and accomplishment of the day work. The earth was covered with sticks that had been laid down, each of them promising us a second harvest. We managed to complete just as the sun began to set.We washed our equipment, exhausted but satisfied.

It had been a long day, but one that was well worth it at the Farmland. Farming is really an hard labor work, but also it is so lovely in ways too good to be described. It brings my family and me closer together, teaches us patience, and makes us appreciate nature's gifts—such as those delicious oyster mushrooms.
Now, getting down to writing this, I'm grinning. It was a sweat day, full of surprises, and lots of happiness. That is what farm life is all about— clearing the soil, planting crops, laughing with the people you love at the farm, working with your own two hands, and being content with the little things nature gives. And hoping for a good harvest.
Here is a little video i made as a summary of my day at the Farmland👇🏾.
